Been on Victoza for 13 days today and have lost 9 lbs, I have no appetite and feel great. I was a little tired at first and had some gas and a little upset tummy at first ,but I started taking it at night before bed and slept thru the side effects. I think I have found the miracle drug for weight loss. My doc gave me two sample pens with the needles an a card good for 25 off my first 6 copays. It is for type 1 and 2 diabetics , but  the weight loss is so good that some doctors are putting their non diabetic patients on it in smaller doses. It was just approved in jan . so not a lot of people have heard of it. If you are thinking about surgery, go to your doc and try this first. I think for the first time in my life I have controll over food. It feels great. I hope this helps someone out there. Thanks Judy

Thanks for this posting.  This is one of the highlights of OH is the information and identification found here.  I just started taking Victoza last Thursday.  My doctor suggested it since my sugars are out of control and my weight gain has been rapid(another issue and forum).  I am having nausea like crazy however my cravings are cut and I have lost several pounds and inches.  Was going to ask what to do about nausea however going to start taking meds at night to get through symptoms.  Thanks again

Just started on Victoza last week. So far, lots of nausea. It has taken my appetite totally away! I have lost 2 pounds per day since starting it. It was my endo that put me on this. My surgeon wants me to eat 1000 calories a day. There is no way as long as I am taking Victoza! Not sure how he will respond so we will see. As far as my sugars, I have still been having to take some fast acting insulin when I eat. I guess my body is just not ready to do its thing yet. I will keep patiently taking Victoza and waiting.

The only thing I have noticed in a month on Victoza, two weeks at effective dosage, is loss of hunger, which did not occur with VSG. I am losing the same, just able to stay at lower calorie level without cravings!

I quit smoking 1 year agoThanksgiving.  I have put on over 50 pounds.  Surgars levels are high again and back on blood pressure medication.  My doctor has put me on Victoza to see if I can control the weight gain.  I started on the med 9 days ago.  On the third day I had a very bad headache that Tylenol took away.  No other issue since.  But I have put on another 2 pounds.  This doesn't seem to control my hunger at all.  Taking 1.2mg per day.  Any comments out there?

I started using Victoza in August of 2010. T have gained 15 lbs. It also does nothing to control my hunger, in fact I eat more? Not sure what to do anymore?

I have not had bariatric surgery (yet). Still waiting on approval and doing rather poorly in the programme. After twelve years of struggling with diabetes I was put on Victoza by the endo doc at the intiative of the dietitican at the Windsor assessment centre. After only one week I'm convinced it's nothing short of a miracle drug. My voracious appetite has been suppressed. Blood sugars are finally in the single digits (Canadian measure). "Twilight Syndrome" is under control and I wake up with normal blood sugar readings finally. And I'm losing weight hand over fist.

Side effects? Mid-afternoon has been bringing a bit of upset stomach but I am banking on this receding over time. The payoff is worth it.
