Lowering my insulin

I had my VSG on March 4th and I'm hardly using any insulin already. I'm taking 10 units of Lantus at night and have used a couple of units of Humalog here and there. I haven't taken my Metformin/Glucophage since surgery. I hope that this lasts as I add more calories and different types of foods.

Well I'm not really sure. I was on a 2 week no carb pre op diet and cut my insulin in half during that week. Then in the hospital on clear liquids it stayed pretty much steady. Now that I'm home and on full liquids, I just keep checking my blood sugar alot. The highest was only about 126 and so I just took a couple of units. Hopefully, it will just disappear!

I'm four months out of RNY and have gone from 280 units a day to just 25 and lowering week upon week.  RNY saved my life - am hoping that with more weight loss and continuing my exercise routine, I'll be down to 10 units or off it completly.  If I have to use just a small amount each day, I'll take it when I look at th road that my body was on.

Congrats on the lower sugar levels and I hope it continues on the down slide for you.  You have done remarkably well.

It can happen really quick for some people. I am 1 week out from surgery and I was on 225 lantus a day before surgery. I left the hospital not useing any and I still do not have to have any. It is exciting. Good luck to everyone!
