Reducing insulin during pre-op liquid diet phase
Hi folks,
My application for the sleeve has been rejected, so I'm off to Mexico for April 1. My BMI is 37.4, so I'm required to do a 7 day liquid diet, pre-op.
My only challenge is that I'm not getting a lot of direction from the surgeon's office about how to reduce my insulin needs during this phase. My PCP doesn't feel that she is best placed to give me that direction, and it is difficult to get into my endo at short notice. I'm trying to find a bariatric doctor in my area that might be able to help, but there are certain ones in my city that I refused to deal with, because of integrity issues (on their part).
In the meantime, I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences on how they managed their insulin (background) and metformin, during a liquid diet phase.
