How do they know you are insulin resistant if your glucose levels are normal? Do you have higher than normal serum insulin levels? This can be a precursor to type 2 diabetes. Often prescribed for such cases is metformin, as it does not typically cause lows since it does not cause an increase in insulin production. Also, the dirty "e" word (exercise) can be very helpful for insulin resistance.
I don't know if you have Type 1 or 2 but I am extremely insulin resistant. I have type 1 but many aspects of type 2. I take tons of insulin. I do bottom out sometimes because I have to take so much to keep my blood sugar stable. I use a continuous glucose monitor that helps me know when I am going low or high. I also check my blood sugar constantly so I know how it is. You should see the endo because they experts in diabetes and can help you. Unfortunately PCP's have little knowledge about diabetes. i should say some of them not all of them. I have been dealing with diabetes for 23 years so if you ever need to talk or just ask a question let me know. Hope this helps.
