3 months after surgery...

...and my HBA1C is 5.4 with a fasting glucose of 90!

The morning of surgery, my fasting glucose was 180-something, and my A1Cs within 45 days prior to my surgery were 8.1 and 7.9.

I'm now on less than half the meds I was on before surgery (2500mg metformin and 50mcg Januvia pre-op), and I'm well on my way to full resolution. I've been on 1000mg metformin daily since surgery, and with these latest results, I'm currently cut back to 500mg metformin daily - nothing else - and as long as my numbers stay this good, we'll kick that metformin completely in a few more months.

And I still have over 100 pounds to lose, so it's not like it's resolved because I'm near a normal weight...

That is great!!  I was disappointed after surgery that my diabetes was not resolved and I went home taking metformin also.  I am happy to tell you that as of last week, I am completely off of all medication with very normal blood sugars.
It wont be long for you also

Congrats on the amazing weight loss so far!

Careful with those lows - hypoglycemia is an increasingly common issue after RNY.

That's great. I can't even get surgery scheduled if mine is above 8.0 and right now it's at 8.5. Even after a month of dieting and exercise and losing 8 pounds it's been the same for two months.  Extremely happy for you and good luck on your journey!

Good luck for that. According to Kaplan, bariatric surgery has the best possible weight loss outcome, with 50 - 70% of patients losing up to 50% of their excess weight and keeping it off, compared with weight loss medications (0%) and diet and exercise (2 - 5%).
Health is important!
