Feeling awful--Dr. just doubled my insulin--

I am waiting for Insurance to approve me. They denied my first request. None of the DR.s can figure out why. I have been on 7 shots a day for awhile. Yesterday My Diabetic DR. decided to double my insulin. So now I am on almost 200 units a day. I increased it this morning and thru the day. I feel awful. Dizzy--tired---crabby (as my kids would tell you). Any suggestions to feel better would be appreciated.

Is it causing you to have lows? I would be testing MANY times a day if my insulin were just doubled - that's a big change.

Is it your long acting insulin that was doubled?  You might try breaking up the long acting insulin to twice a day so that you won't get so low.  That is what I do and it works for me.  Also, try small meals six times a day.  Hope that helps.

I know what your sayin by feelin crabby, i was taking a combo of 60-62 units 4 times a day.  drinking lots of water helps and walking.  But too much walking can lead to a low so take a little less long acting.  hope that helps

Oh my dear...  I am so sorry.  What type of insulin are you on currently?  I was up to 7 shots a day in 2007.  I made the decision to get on an insulin pump that injects novelog every hour.  I had a an aic of7 within 50 days.

They are normally covered by insurance and make life a lot more comfortable.

Hope this helps.

Feel better.

Have you had an A1C test lately?  If not, request one to see where your bloodsugar level is at and go from there.
