OK.... so I've been type 1 diabetic for over 20 yrs.  i had RNY surgery may 19th.  as of lately, I've been having ALOT of low bg's.  i am in constant communications with my endo.  checking my bg's between 4 to 6 & sometimes even almost 10 times a day.  i am also on insulin pump therapy. idk.... I'm eating what I'm supposed to, but i have at least 3-4 low bg's per day.... i guess i just needed to vent... its just frustrating........ ughhhhhhh!!!!!!

Hi, not sure if this helps you, but here's my story.  I am on a 2wk Liquid Diet b4 surgery and I had been having a lot of LOW's and couldn't get a hold of my Endo, so I changed my BASAL settings. Basal from 12a-10a was 2.4 so I changed it to 1.8....... then Basal from 10a-12a was 2.5 changed it to 2.0.  Now I haven't had a LOW so I think I did good. but remember I can't eat any food I can only have liquids(sugar free).

Do they have you doing basal tests? checking BGs 2 hours after eating, and each hour following until you eat again? Sounds like the basals are too high. This will be in constant change as you lose weight. If you aren't over bolusing or over correcting. Those factors may need adjustment as well. Your diabetes educator in your endo's office will usually help you with this on a daily/weekly basis as needed.
