Its working
I am 11 days out from my Lab Band surgery and still off my diabetic medicine. My surgeon told me not to take anything unless my blood sugars go over 200. Then check with my family doctor when I get my staples out, as I might have to go on a lower does. Well, I saw my doctor yesterday, and she told me to keep doing what I am doing and not to take anything. (unless it gets over 200) WOW! I am so excited about my future. Before surgery, I was taking 3 orals, twice a day and 2 Byetta shots, twice a day. I feel so good right now, I can't believe it. NO regrets on this surgery. Cindy

Have you researched the DS? If you are insulin dependent, I would think you may need more than a restriction-only procedure. The Ds has up to a 98.9% cure rate for type 2 diabetes, followed by the RNY at about 75-83% remission rate, with restriction-only procedures haveing less success at resolving diabetes.
I too am insulin dependant and am hoping to be off all of my diabetic meds. That was the main reason for my descision to have WLS. I am a diabetic and have high blood pressure and between the 2, I take over 12 pills a day and 1 shot of insulin. I am so done and ready to be free ofmeds. I know I will be taking vitamin supplements, but I will welcome that.

Have you looked into the DS as a WLS procedure? It has the highest type 2 diabetes cure rate of any of the surgeries. You can click on my bunny picture to go to my profile for more information.
