I feel your pain--this seems to be happening to me, as well. I am 20 days out and sugars had gone down to "normal," but now creeping up and I have had to increase insulin accordingly. I am not happy---maybe we need to drink more? I am reading some posts and some people say when you are dehydrated, sugars can go up....well, just a thought---I will try to force more liquid in and let ya know....

Best of luck!

The good news is that my blood sugars seem to be coming down now.  Probably more a function of the weight loss and exercise, rather than any kind of remission.  But your point about dehydration is well-taken; I'm definitely not drinking enough water.  Thank you.

OK guys, I am a fellow T2DM, a nurse & a Diabetes Educator....here is my OPINION.....
When you are fasting, taking in less carbs, or sick, (vomiting or diarrhea)...your body will break down and use it's muscle & fat for energy. Just like when you check a fasting BS in the am and it is high during a "fasting" state, you will be high as well during the above mentioned times without your meds. Exercise and continuing to loose weight will improve your metabolic health...give it time and watch the carbs!  Eat fruits & veggies instead of rice, bread or pasta.....you already know all this! Give yourself some time, but remember, even if you don't come completely off ALL your meds, you are still better off lighter, and a decrease in your meds is a great success!!!

OK, I'm retired medical professional.  I'm a realist and I hate to break your bubble, but  THERE IS NO CURE FOR DIABETES.  I've posted elsewhere and will do so again:  By the time you are diagnosed with diabetes you have probably already lost 80% of the beta cells in the pancreas.  Those cells never grow back.  You will permanently live on only 20% of the pancreas for the rest of your life. And if you are in tight control and live well for the rest of your life it is possible to remain off of medications for a very long time.  But diabetes is insidious and never, ever goes away.

Just because you are able to get off of diabetic medications you are not cured, it's only that your blood glucose levels are better controlled.  The diabetes will always be there, and sweety, eventually those number always go back up.  ALWAYS.

As far as stating that you can't exercise:  Give me a break.  Were you able to bring that spoonful of food up to your mouth that cause you to become overweight?  Were you on medications that caused you to retain weight?  You know, you can exercise that same arm with a tiny little amount of weight and do enough repetitions as an essential cardio workout and  eventually if you do enough you can break a sweat.  You can do non-impact exercises.  You can lift a light weight throughout the day often enough to see results of toning of the muscles.    See a Physical Therapist and try to figure out what you can do, that's what they specialize in....   There is no reason for anyone whose heart is still beating to claim that they can't exercise!  Hell, you can move your fingers up and down enough to write on this website, and that means you have enough upper body strength to tolerate some exercise....  pick up the damn keyboard often enough and that's an exercise.  Get a life, please!

The only people I know of who can't exercise have disease process where they experience physiological breakage of skin, tendon, muscle and bone, or have medication issues that prevent it (like serial steroid usage.)   If that is you, my apologies.  Otherwise, give me a break and quit talking about can't exercise.  Enough is enough!
