Has anyone ever tried cinnamon to help control blood sugars? What was the outcome?

I tried cinnamon extract pills and didn't see any difference.  But...my blood sugars are never in control so I wasn't surprised that adding one more pill didn't help me.  I also tried Vit D and didn't see any difference either.

I've been taking cinnamon for some time and though I continue to take it, I am not aware of any benefit.  I believe it may be more helpful for prediabetic persons or those with a very mild case.

I actually measured the difference in my bs before and after taking a tsp of cinnamon, and it does lower my bs.  The problem was that I started having terrible ulcer kind of pains, turned out the cinnamon upset my stomach.  Who would have guessed?

I haven't used cinnamon as a supplement.  However I have heard from a lot of people about its use. ( I have been part of a study at Stanford University on diabetes self management for about 18 months.)  Many of the people in the study who talk on that forum have tried it but did not find any real benefit unless you like cinnamon burps.  Recently I heard of a study that confirmed their experiences.  Unless it causes you discomfort it is unlikely to cause you any harm if you want to give it a try.
