Insurance approval and blood sugars

Hi everyone!!

I'm working on completing my pre-approval list so that the surgeon's office can submit the paperwork.  i am a type II diabetic and my sugars have been running between 170 and 220 lately and i have been having problems tolerating both glipizide and januvia.  My surgeon told me that he is not too concerned about the sugar levels because they can just put insulin in my IV but i'm afraid that the insurance company with want my sugars to be well controlled before they approve me.  What kind of experiences has everyone else had?  I'd love any advice you might be able to give me! Thanks!!!  Michelle  :o)

I would think having uncontrollable sugars would be another reason TO have surgery! I really think it's more a matter of what your surgeon and anesthesiologist think, not your insurance company.

My suger level was up high before the surgery doing the hospital stay they gave me a few shots after I left the hospital I no longer took any shot at all.
