Dad is 52, Type 2 for 15+yrs Insulin shots for past 5yrs

I had RNY surgery almost 3months ago. I am doing great!  I 32yrs old and I started looking into WLS because I was starting to fear I may develop all the health issues my father started to developed in his mid 30's.

Anyhoo, I just read a post from a woman's daughter. Her mother was having WLS and ended up passing. I am worried about my daddy.  He had told me before before I had surgery he was really interested but admitted he was scared and nervous about not waking up from the surgery table or not making it home from the hosp.  I know the Dr. does his homework and won't do surgery if he feels there will be any complications, but since my dad has alot of health issues, things can always come up. 

Are there any men out there that are in similar situations that have had surgery?  How were things?

Of course there are many men on these boards.  I am still waiting for surgery and in a presurgical program, but your Dad can read the blogs of many men on these boards.  Just do a people search.  Just a little bit of weight loss  and exercise is already helping my diabetes and I'm ten years older than he is.  He can do it. I 'm 53 this year had my surgery at 51 14 days before my 52nd birthday. I was a medicad wreck
insulin diabete, asthma, sinsus, allergy, high blood pressure, cholestrol, thyroid. And I have been doing fine God Bless Your Daddy with the discussion he makes.
p.s. had been taking shot for at least 5 years also.
