Hello, I am very new to the weight loss surgery.  Just had a couple of questions.  I am a type 2 diabetic, with high blood pressure, and high chol.  Just wondering if the insurance companies, and maybe the doctors, speed up the waiting period before the surgery??  Just wondering?  Thanks so much.

Nobody speeded up for me, Type I and II, but probably different docs and different insurance companies differ. I started process last Oct. and will have my surgery this Friday. It would have gone much quicker if I'd called ;my insurance company before starting, and gone to their approved doctor first off. Good luck, Fern

Even thought there is some stunning research out there about how WLS can help tremendously with Diabetes............insurance companies still work the same. In fact, insurance for me would have only covered RNY. Lap Band and VSG they considered too experimental. I was a self pay...........i would do it again in a heart beat! jeni
