Hi All: Had an RNY Oct. 16,2007.  When I was on liquids for a week before surgery to shrink my liver, my Dr. took me off of my Diabetic Medication (mediglip) was taking it 2 in am and 1 after dinner. My sugars were perfect 120 am and 140 pm without anything. Now I'm having a problem with getting it controlled.  He told me to take 10 units of insulin if its over 200 and use a sliding scale. This was when I was unable to swallow pills.  Now that I'm able to swallow pills again I stopped using the insulin.  Now in am is 170 -190 I don't take anything cause I'n not eating.  I use protein shakes during the day and eat dinner then take my sugar and a pill or half a pill depending on the readings.  Has any one else had this same senerio? Right after my surgery I didn't need my blood pressure meds or my cholestrial meds anymore and my readings are fine.  Just can't get my sugar regulated.  Anyone have any suggestions or have this happen to them?  My doctor doesn't know why but say's it will straighten out but doesn't know when. Hi Susan   I understand what you mean , I had this to make my diabetes under control, when I was first out my BS was 95 w/o meds. I was thrilled then it started to creep up when I wason soft food then it would go from 180 - 200. I am off my BP meds & cholesterol the only pill I take now is Januvia and my sugar is 99 - 130 I have heard of a lot of people who come off their diabetes meds immediately post-op, I was really upset about it and I excercise 6 days a week. Now I go to an endocrinologist and I am pleased with my results I just want to get off the Januvia, Pre=op I was taking metformin 1000mg 2x a day, glyburide 2x a day and actos 30 mg 1x.  I just feel it will get better and I will get off the drugs Thanks  Susan
