this question is for diabetic peoples with lap band I am trying to get a lap band
and i am type two diabetic according to my doctor by been banded it will help with my
diabetes i want to hear this from peoples who have had the surgeries and succesfully they were out of insulin and medication
Hi
I initially wanted the lap band but I decided to have Lap RNY,
I did not want to be able to eat sugar and I didn't want to have to go to the doctors every 4 - 6 weeks to have the band filled.
so for me RNY was a better choice.and I have lost 65 lbs and I only take januvia now . my sugar hasn't been this good in 8 yrs.

If you have a BMI of 35 and type 2 diabetes (comorbidity), you should qualify for any WLS procedure. The qualifications for Lap Band are no different than for anything else.
I had lap band 2/07. I've lost 88 lbs thus far. I was on insulin shots pre-surgery. I stopped them a short while after surgery. Now, I'm take one oral med daily and my sugars are, for the most part, inline with what they should be.
Also, I no longer take meds for high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

Hi and congratulations on your upcoming surgery!
Honestly, I can't remember the exact dates that everything happened. I may have posted more on my OH account/journal.
I don't think my A1C went up. I get mine checked every three months. I do remember my blood sugars dropping below normal one weekend. That's when I took myself off the meds.
My sugars really vary. I've been running in the 130's lately, which is too high, but my stress level has been very high plus I've been sick. I may have to adjust my meds when I go in to the doc next week. It's never constant, so I do monitor daily.
I'm sure everyone is different, however!
Best of luck.
