My surgeon put me on a ten day liquid diet before surgery. I drank some juice that I thought was diet, but turned out to be full of sugar. I went up to 300 and they said they would cancel the surgery if I was above 150 on the morning of surgery. I got rid of that juice and got back down in time for surgery.
Richard Bernstein MD has a book out called "the Diabetes Solution" Do the diet and the BG comes down ton to normal (for me) quick, like 3 days or less. That is a great book by the way. For type I and type II. He is type I. You can get a lot of the book for free on his web site. Might be able to get a deal on Amazon. I love it. But I am still going out for the Duodenal Switch.
