My question. I am a type 1 diabetic (who's blood sugar numbers have suddenly come super under control) and I was wondering what will happen after the surgery? A little background info now.... Friday, 2 hours after hubby and I pigged out on Chinese buffet for lunch, my blood sugars were 26.6 mmol/L (or 478.8 for my friends South of the border).... later that evening before we went for a walk they were 17.8 (or 320.4)..... about 1/2 an hour after we left for our walk and came home my numbers were 8.4 (151.2). Saturday my numbers kept on plummeting down to the normal range 4-7 mmol/L (or 72-126). Sunday afternoon after lunch I bottomed out.... my numbers were 3.8 (68.4)..... Monday afternoon I bottomed out again after lunch with a reading of 3.6 (64.8).... and again today I bottomed out after almost 4 hours since eating breakfast with a reading of 3.8 (68.4). I want to know what will happen when they do my surgery and I am no longer allowed to eat or drin****il after the leak test which can be 1-2 days after the surgery. If I bottom out within 4 hours of eating, is it going to be good for me to do the surgery, or will it do my body more harm? I was sooooo gung ho about getting the surgery and now I'm scared because of what's been going on with me lately. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Lori
