Hey Guys.............

Well, I scheduled my surgery for March 20!  I went to see the surgeon today and he thought that the bypass would be better for me than the band.  He thinks the bypass would help my sugars be better controlled than the band!  I'm very excited.  All I need to do now is get a sonogram of my gallbladder and go see my regular internist for a note of clearance from him.  Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the insurance to give the OK?  I'm hoping to go to the dr. mid-late February.  Would a month be enough time for the insurance to clear me?

I think each insurance company is different. Mine takes a minimum of six months. I started in October or so with my initial visit. I asked for surgery after my daughters wedding, so it'll be the beginning of June. My visits to health care professionals ends the middle of February, so I've been told I have to book once a month weigh-ins to fill out the six months. Plus, I'm going to the support groups every month too, and that counts as well. I'm getting more and more excited each time I read a post that someone's got their date or lost more, or is happy with their decision!!! :)  Marie P.s.  GOOD FOR YOU!!!

Hey Marie: Yep, I'm excited.  I told all my bosses yesterday and they were really happy for me (although they kept saying "you don't look like you need the surgery").  I told them all that's cause I carry my weight really good -- but I feel it.  And I want to fit into my jeans again.  I never wear jeans anymore on the weekends -- always sweats and I look like a slob!  So this Saturday I go and take a sonogram of my gallbladder and on Feb 15 I go to my internist for a letter from him :-)

I get that same reaction. I'm solid and wear my fat well, what can I say!?  I'm just psyched for the day when I'm NOT wearing it anymore!!! :D Marie

Yep, I hear ya..... A lot of people tell me to that I just need to stop eating and try harder to lose weight, but it's soooooooooooooooooooo hard.  It really is.  I came to the conclusion that when I get this surgery at least I'll be restricted from eating anything "bad".  Exercise?  Well, that's gonna be really hard -- I mean I get home at 6:30 and have to deal with dinner, playing with my kids, homework, baths, and by the time I'm done with all that, it's 8:30 and I'm putting my kids to bed at that time.  Who would wanna exercise at that hour?  That's gonna be hard.  But I can't wait to have it done.  I just took the sonogram of my upper right quadrant this morning and I have an appt with my internist on Feb 15.  Hopefully the insurance will OK me right away!  HOPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know what you mean. I might have to do another cardiac stress test on the treadmill. If the timing is against me, I'm stuck, but I'll do it. I want this..and now that it's *almost here* I want it over with! LOL...I really need to learn patience at some point!   Why not try exercising earlier? I used to lift weights or do my cardio after work, then I changed my hours and now do it in the morning some days. I'm still used to doing it at night and like it better that way. I have to wake up slow and undisturbed with lots of coffee! LOL...But as long as you get it in, even 10 minutes of quick walking 3x a day, that counts!! And it's all you really need. You don't need to lift weights...I do because I'm hooked on it and I love it! But the cardio is what takes the weight off. You've got the perfect excuse! Youv'e got little kids, so run around with em for a few minutes! :D (THAT counts as cardio too!)  Marie

You're right.... but I do walk 40 minutes a day.  I do 20 minutes in the morning (from the car to the train and from the train station to my office building and back at night) so when I told the nurse and the nutrionist that they both said at least that's something!  Plus I do run here and there with my kids :-)  UGH, but I get up at 6:15 every morning just to start getting ready for work.  I can't seem to get up any earlier than that! (maybe once I lose this weight it'll be a different story).  LOLLLLLLLLL

Hey right now, you're getting LOTS more exercise than I am! Good for you!! I need to do more, and I'm up around 5am, but don't want to do it either! LOL...so dont' feel bad. I've heard that when we lose weight we want to do more because we CAN....so I'm looking forward to some wonderful and positive changes!!
