My sugar level was 50.I was very dizzy.Any of you ever have the same problem.
I started to eat more and I gained 12-15 lb. I am very upsed about weigth gain.
Please help.
Thank you EK
I struggle with low blooed surgar expisodes but I still take some insulin. I think the key is not eating more, but eatting more often.
I was having episodes in the middel of the night so I added a bedtime snack ....usually a cheesestick or two and that seems to have done the trick.
Regards and hugs,
Ronna

EK, this has been a problem for people especially who have Diabetes, and even for those who don't with the RNY. They were insulin resistent and made more insulin then needed but couldn't use it. After the surgery they have episodes of low sugars which are difficult to control. There have been studies that show surgery that removes or bloacks the small intestines can lead to hypoglycemia. Surgeons should really add this to their list of possible complications because low blood sugars can be dangerous and even deadly especially if they occur at night and you don't wake up.
If eating small snacks that include protein and a small amount of carbs don't help, you need to see an Internist about the problem. For some people eating the snacks between small meals so you are eating something every 2-3 hours help. I wish you a lot of luck.
