I hate this disease
I was diagnosed about 6 months ago with Diabetes. I've been through the classes and I'm taking my medicine which is 10 mg Glipizide and 1000 mg Metformin twice daily. My A1c last time it was checked was 9.5. My surgeon wants it to be below 8 before he'll operate. I had a fasting blood sugar of 290 when I was first diagnosed.
My primary doctor wants my fasting blood sugar to be 110. Right now it's 130 -160 depending on what and when I eat. I've noticed that even on medication, it's VERY easy for me to have a blood sugar level of 300 +. I found this out over Thanksgiving.
I just joined Curves a week ago and have gone 3 times so far. I'll definitely go 3 times this week and will try to go an extra day just because.
I really don't have any questions...I just want to gripe. Sometimes I get into "why me?" I could have this surgery tomorrow if my blood sugar was under control. Sometimes I just feel like it won't ever happen. I don't want to go on insulin because I really don't want to gain weight. Right now I'm just in a funk and don't know what to do.
Thanks for listening to me complain!!!

Michelle Your situation is a lot like mine was three years ago. The same medications and blood sugars. About 8 months after I found out I had diabetes I had LapBand surgery. Now my diabetes is gone, my blood sugar is below 100 and I don't take any medication. I just wanted to tell you that it is possible and to wish you good luck. Richard
Thanks Richard. I really appreciate it! This week has been a much better week. I'm doing REALLY well. I'm trying my hardest to get my fasting blood sugar down to 110 and the closest I've come is 116. So, I'm definitely on my way. I've cut out virtually all carbs. Well, not really, but I'm probably only eating somewhere between 40 & 60g carbs per day. I should actually try to lower that amount. We'll see.
Thanks again and congratulations to you!!!
