My doctor has put me on Metformin to help me lose weight. Anyone taking it now or taken in the past ... Did you lose weight ?

I take it and know I have lost some weight on it. I was also on Advandia and it had the opposite effect. Caused weight gain.. So dr. took me off avandia and I began losing weight again with only being on the Metformin. Hope this helps.

Nasty side effect of Avandia is that it does indeed cause weight gain.

Ask your dr. if you are a good candidate for Byetta. I began taking it with Metformim the week of Thanksgiving 2006 and have lost 18lbs so far...it's a miracle drug (in my humble opinion, of course!).
