Blood Sugar Spikes Post Op
Hi Sheri, I would first check the CARB grams of the foods you do eat and try to limit those ( I use FITDAY.COM to keep track) I also had highs and lows. Sometimes as high as 396. I never stopped my insulin ( I am type two) In fact even on IV's in the hosp I spiked to 395! What is your average daily BGL'S? What are your fasting levels ? Those are the most important ones. If you continue to be higher ( 200 or more, 2 hours post meals ) twice in a row I would call the MD and let him/her know.
Not everyone that has this surgery can stop their diabetic meds. MOST reduce the amount they take.
It should be expected that adding solid foods ( more carbs!) would also increase your BGLs. I wish you luck. Keep in touch with your MD and if you feel more should be done express those concerns to him/her. Lisa
