I came home around 8 pm on Thursday and went right to bed. My surgeon said I was doing so well with my liquid intake and walking that I didn't need to stay the extra night. I feel a little sore but otherwise I feel pretty good. How is everyone else doing? Elizabeth

Elizabeth, Congratulations, I'm so happy everything went smoothly.....have a quick recovery, get lots of rest, and sip tha****er. How did it go wearing the pump? You'll have to e-mail personally with all the details.....just wanted to say welcome home!! Wendy

Congratulations! Good to get another goal obtained isn't it! First it's decision, then approval, then surgery......and now home safely!. The journey continues. I have my surgery Oct. 24 hopefully, although at the moment I have a nasty cold threatening to settle in my old smoker lungs [I quit in 1990] and an abcessed tooth and I am 16 days out from surgery. Did you need insulin during surgery? Take care and keep posting. Marti :-)

Hi Marti, Your surgery date is just a couple weeks away and will be here before you know it. For colds I take Zicam which is a homeopathic remedy that you can find over the counter. Check with your doctor if it is safe for you to take. I am a type 1 diabetic so I will always need to take insulin. I use an insulin pump and I was able to keep it on during surgery. You should check out the Oct. 2006 board, I think there are a few others who are having surgery on the 24th. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/10-2006/ Elizabeth

Just got back from dentist and I have an abscessed tooth and he put me on penicillin, maybe that will help prevent pneumonia also. I guess I am just not familiar with how the pump works.I admire you for dealing with the pump. I guess I always decided I would stick with what I know, as the shots have never bothered me. I just wish they would perfect something to measure blood sugars constantly and let you know right away. Wouldn't that be wonderful? My fingers get so tired of 5-7 sticks a day. [and I am still not in control, like right now I am sick and so they are sky high and who knows why, not from what I am eating, which is not much] I will check out the October Board Thanks! Marti
