Now Post-Op---Yippee!
Hi You All, I had my wls on June 27 at St. David's Hospital in Austin. My OH Angel, Vickie was there to greet me on the day of my surgery. Also, my twin sister from CA was there to support me. Overall the surgery went great. My Dr. put me in Immediate Care for the first two days and then I was transferred to a regular room for another 4 days. Since I only have one kidney and am diabetic, I guess the surgeon just wanted to make sure everything was working right after the surgery. I had excellent care. The hardest part was drinking. I'm still finding it hard to drink all that I'm suppose to. I've never been one to gulp my liquids anyway. Before my wls, I was on 70 units of N insulin and 8 to 10 units of R insulin in the am and 66 units of N insulin and 6 units of R insulin in the pm. Now, I'm only taking 22 to 28 units of N insulin and 6-8 units of R insulin once a day. I've also been able to stop my Actos (which tends to keep you from losing weight). I just wanted to catch you all up to date since my surgery.
As of last week, I've lost almost 30 pounds! Only about 90 more pounds to go...
On the losing trail, Jan
Jan,
Congratulations on a success wls!! I wish you continued success on your weightloss and lowering your insulin and meds, and a quick recovery process. Its very important not to gulp water though, just little sips will help keep you hydrated. 30 lbs.....is an amazing start.......you'll be on a journey of your lifetime for the next year, so, sit back and enjoy the ride!!!!! Don't look at 90 more pounds, look at getting healthier year after year, no pressure that way!

Awesome Janet: It is nice to reduce the meds and seeing better sugars on a daily basis. 30 lbs is great!
