I am a pre op type 2 diabetic and this question was posted on the main message board by another member, but it got me wondering as well. What do you do post op if you have low blood sugar? I drink orange juice right now and am pretty sure I wont be able to do that once I have surgery so I was wondering what your experiences have been?

Hi Jami I usually check glucose tablets when I have a low blood sugar episode. 4 does the trick. I have also used OJ but prefere the glucose tablets. You will still be able to have OJ post op, it's just really high in sugar and I don't like to drink it unless I really have to. Good luck with your surgery! Regards and hugs, Ronna

I am only a week post op and I have wondered the same thing. Don't I need to worry about dumping?

as you go further out from surgery, your stored fat/glycogen in your liver depletes, causing the dumping sydrom, OJ will be a poor choice, penut butter will be much better, or other protien. slower to absorb. so the inslulin dump wont be severe in reaction
