Topic: RE: Low bp 90/53 p94, low iron, severse stomach cramps, bloated stomach
It did seems as though it had changed overnite. Not a good experience by a long shot. I went to my regular doctor. All he did pretty much was change my meds. My BP has gone back to a normal range now. Never figured out what caused it to drop so quickly and drastically. I researched online and found that Acidopholis really worked for a lot of people. I bought some over the counter and voila! My stomach went down and pains went away. Now, all I get are some random stomach pains about 2-3 times a week.
But all seems well now! Thank you for your reply. And so sorry it took me so long to get back signed in to answer.

Topic: Advice needed........
Hi everyone! I had RNY 7 years ago. I have also had every single complication there is to have, some more than once. I have had 9 surgeries, about to be 10, in 7 years. My weight, once stable at years 3 and 4, has plummeted to a mere 105 lbs. I look and feel anorexic. My latest struggle started in Sept 2010 when I had a stricture (yes, you can get them this far out) and I went to a gastro doc to get dilated. He perforated my stomach. I was rushed to the hospital, repaired and sent home only to return the next day in god awful pain. My intestine had ruptured. From there I spent 7 weeks, 10 days of it in a coma, in the hospital in ICU. Imagine the bill...........I had liver failure, kidney failure, dialysys, transfusions, another surgery, double pnemonia (apparently I aspirated some fluid) and I was septic. I also contracted MERSA. Lovely. Here I am, 3-1/2 months later, still unable to work, weak as an infant, unable to eat much and facing another surgery on March 7 for a giant hernia (I'm not kidding when I say giant). My question is: when I had the emergency problems back in September they asked if I wanted a reversal. Me, being out of it, said no. This time is different. I have been practically bedridden since I got out of the hospital in early November. I want to ask the doctor if he can draw up papers that say when they are in the repairing my hernia, and find my RNY to be malfunctioning, could they reverse it. I don't want to have yet another surgery. I am leaning more and more for the reversal. Do you think the doc would do that? I have an appointment next week to go over blood work, which I'm sure is in the pits, and I will discuss this with him. I would like your opinions and thoughts.
Thanks, Kathy
Thanks, Kathy

I have had low blood pressure (90s over 50s) since loosing 100+ lbs. You get used to the postural hypotension after a while and work around it. ( I am 7.5 yrs post lap rny)
A lot of folks get anemia and need iron supplementation
I had stomach pains that were blown off by doctors and ended up finally having repair of internal hernia..after several hospitalizations for bowel obstructions....not seen in 6 catscans, an mri or xray. Saved my life bu these started years after surgery, not ususally an early problem.
Get several opinions...including bariatric surgeons not just GI docs. You are pretty early in your journey so it may be something having to do with adjustments to surgery...ie diet etc. Many folks have fiber, gluten or lactose intolerence problems after surgery that they did not have b4.
Good luck finding your solutions

I hope you have recieved medical help by now. P have had exact same symptoms to a tea. I am a year out of surgery. Went to hospital a week ago Sat., could not stand the pain. Had immediate surgery after cat scan. Had Peterson"s hernia, had intestines's and bowels rapped around and sucked up in hole from hernia. I guess this can happen after bypass surgery. Feeling better now, but very painful recovery process.

My tests did not show an obstruction either....but the exploratory surgery showed a huge internal hernia near the "jj" in the messentary area that had been causing my unexplained bowel obstruction pain. Surgeon said these do not always show on catscans or mris.
I had my surgery on the 8th, probably saved my life.
Good luck and be proactive about your health...get multiple opinions.

While gall bladder is the most likely problem It may or may not be gall stones. I just had (2 days ago) surgery to fix an internal hernia (huge) in the messentary (sic) area that caused pain and bowel obstructions. I am 7.5 years post RNY. The pain was quite severe(during attacks) and in the middle of the abdomen above the belly button
Please have them check for this also. I had one friend die from this "hernia" after 5 years and another friend almost die. This is a life threatening long term complication...and cannot be detected easily with catscans (I had 5 looking for it), an mri, or xrays.
Hugs and best wishes for an accurate diagnosis and treatment

Topic: need some direction or advise.
It has been awhile since I have been on this forum. It has been 3 years since my ryn surgery. I lost 140 pounds. However six months into the process I started to have alot of problems. I started to have seizures, low blood pressure, high heart rate, severe hypoglycemia, sleep apnea, migranes. Lately the more I go to the doctor the more problems are added to the mix. I have always taken my meds and supplements. I went from being on 2 medications and supplements to seventeen medication. No one can find the root of my problem. Ever specialist just sends me to another person and all of them just fix their issue and medicate and more stuff comes up. Today I was told I need iron transfusion, low vitamin D, low potassium, low iron. I have gained almost all my weigh back. I have moved and now have to find a new doctor. I seriously am thinking of asking for a reversal. Has anyone had any of these problems or know of a good doctor near cheaspeake virgina. I have no idea how to become normal. I am so tired and depressed. I feel like all of this was done and I should have never had it done. Yes I orginally lost the weight but now with all the medication I am gaining weight. Please someone shed some advice.
Topic: RE: Think I am done
What you said about your heart palpatations and feeling dizzy and shakey. Do you think perhaps it might be reactive hypoglycemia? I have symptoms like that that hit me out of the blue, seemingly. I feel as if my blood sugar has crashed, and in fact I have to eat something in order to feel better. I didn't know this but apparently there is something called late dumping that occurs 1-3 hours after eating.
My biggest problems I'm experiencing, apart from the fact that I've gained back ALL the weight, is B12 anemia and severe dumping. I very seriously considering revision to DS, but I haven't made that choice as of yet.

Just had my GB out about a week ago so the pain is fresh in my brain. Mine was sharp pain under my right rib cage but my whole stomach felt bloated and tender. Also lots of nausea. Good luck!
