WOW! How nice of you, Denyse! I absolutely am seeking out a surgeon! What an angel YOU are!
I'm so sorry to hear about you issues and adhesions! Some people's bodies just make more adhesions and they sure can be problematic! I've worked the ER & ICU and have seen the worst of people's adhesions. I hope things go better for you soon!

I happen to be fortunate and my body does NOT make any adhesions. It's probably a good thing as I've had 33 surgeries for various accidents and calamaties. I'm sure it will help the surgeon who maybe will 'fix' my RNY limb before I end up with cancer of the esoph, stomach or lung from the bile shooting to them so long.
I will call DR.ENOCH's office soon or even email them.

I'd be honored to be one of your friends! Thanks so much for your interest and MD referral!

Hi,
I have also had numerous complecations from an RNY in 2003 and a band over bypass in 2010. However, they mostly involve small bowel obstructions due to adhesions rather than the issues you've experienced. What I can offer, though, is the contact information for the best weight loss and general surgeon in NC. I noticed that you are in Charlotte, but it would be worth the drive to the Raleigh/Cary area to have an evaluation:

DR. PAUL ENOCHS, MD,FACS, FASMBS
160 MACGREGOR PINES DR
CARY, NC 27511
919-234-4468

I am alive today because of him, his staff, and the amazing nurses at Rex Hospital in Raleigh!

Topic: RE: I had my RNY reversed, anyone else out there?
Hi there, I see in your post that you were going to have the surgery performed at UCLA.  I'm sort of in that area.  What doctor did you use?  I need to find one desperately and just looking for some information.  Did you have the reversal done, if so how do you feel now that it has been done?  Any information that you have would be appreciated.  Not sure if you check the post anymore, but I hope that you do.

Hi, I was just following up on your post regarding your reversal.  I just wanted to ask if you had your reversal done and how are you feeling now?  Do you feel healthier?  I also wanted to ask you how hard was it to get your reversal approved by your insurance company?  I hope all is going well for you and any advice that you may have have regarding the procedure is greatly appreciated.

Topic: RE: IUD stopping effects of RNY?
Just my advice? But have the Mirena removed. IT can/does/will cause weight gain or lack of loss. I had one put in after my second child, she was conceived on BCP and I didn't want that happening again so, was convinced by my gyn that Mirena was an excellent option. Was put on a 1200cal diet (was then planning RNY, and this was my pre-op diet that I followed pretty well) and not only did I gain 12lbs over the course of a year but also got a "pooch" in the front...like a baby belly  :(  Well, this brought on the research that I SHOULD have done before getting the Mirena...even though my Dr. said the massive mood swings, weight gain, and "pooch" were definitely not side effects of the Mirena. Sure enough, I located a blog type thing about Mirena...over 100 different women on several continents had the exact same side effects...I had it removed. Instant better mood...instantly lost the 12lbs and on the SAME diet STILL losing now that my stupid Mirena was removed. SO, due to my experience and the experience of the women I read about that is always my advice for people with/considering Mirena. It's NOT worth it...if you can avoid it, please do!

It is very difficult to diagnose remnant stomach issues as it is totally blind.  The only way to see it is to actually surgically open it and this is done VERY rarely as I have been told.  I had a problem about 6 months post op with terrible cramping in my remnant area.  We did several things and after months with a feeding tube and a PICC line (b/c the remnant wouldn't accept liquid food without severe cramps) my surgeon opened up the Y so nothing would back up into the remnant and things were much better.  I like my surgeon and his team and all the specialists who had tried to help, but when the problem lies in the remnant it is very difficult.  I am still having pain on occasion and am at the same point as you...all the diagnostics show nothing, but I know how I feel.  It is very frustrating.  My surgeon has asked for me to get a second opinion so someone else would possibly see things in a new light.  I have to figure this out prior to the end of July b/c I am doing plastics and don't want to do stomach plastics and then have more exploratory surgery.

I am 8 years post lap rny and have not heard of this one.    I assume you are not taking any nsaids orally or by patch (thins the  lining of the stomach and intestines).  I had a different problem that was only found and corrected by exploratory surgery (internal hernia and bowel obstructions ) that did not show on 4 catsacns with contrast,  mri, ultra sounds or xrays. I hop in your case they do not have to go in to see the problems.
