Topic: RE: Hypoglycemia & Pituitary tumor
I am almost 3 yrs out and have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia starting at about 1 year ago. I passed out behind the wheel of my car at the dog park and ended up in the hospital for a few days. Passed out about 3 months ago but was just hanging out at home so no hospital visit. 2 weekends ago, I passed out while playing outside with the dog and fell face first onto the concrete. Ended up with 26 stitches on my browbone, a hugely swollen eye and a massively scraped up left side of my face (which is still in the process of healing, and I had a job interview last week that couldn't be postponed!).
Anybody else out there have success with diet modification?
Thanks!

Topic: RE: 2.5 years since I had my RNY REVERSED
my insurance at the time had out of network benefits so I just paid the deductibles. since i live in colorado and had to fly to ny it was waaaaaay out of network.
if there is a way you can get it local, great, but if not I would definately check out alternate routes. I know there is a place in san fransisco that has a lot of experience with reversals. what I did was send my medical records to the surgeon in ny and after some phone conversations with the surgeon and his office I flew out to have it done. they took tons and tons of tests and understandably even tho I had aready taken some of them before, the doc wanted to know for himself and be prepared before they go in to perform the takedown.
email me so I can give you some more info

I couldnt think straight for at least 2.5 years before my reversal.

Grace,
Thankyou so much for replying back to me. most people don't even want to talk about reversals! I went to my personal dr on Friday and broke down crying right in front of her! She immediately called my surgeon, but was unable to contact him...she agreed that my weight, and ill feelings were justified. As for my surgeon. well he says he's only done one reversal in his time of practice...LOL. Not funny to me, but if he can't or won't I will seacrh on my own for my life's sake. My husband wanted to ask did you have to pay out of pocket for your reversal? I have Medicare and I really think my surgeon is going to step around the subject of reversal. Like you my family is watching me suffer and my husband told me today that he was so worried that he can't think straight....isn't that just awful?

Topic: RE: seizure disorder after RnY?
developing seizure disorders IS a complication of the rny. I never had seizures until my rny.
happily i had my surgery reversed 2.5 years ago and even the daily dizziness went away.
now I see the rational in creating a disease to cure another disease.
if i had the chance to do it over again. i would have NEVER had wls

Topic: RE: Joint pain and muscle soreness 3 years post-op RNY
I had a reversal of my rny 3.5 years after my surgery. I had to fly from colorado to new york to find a surgeon that would perform it but it has saved my life. oddly I never had joint pain pre rny, but post rny is a TOTALLY different story.
I also had problems with bacteria but it manifested in my girl parts instead.
I went thru 12 different doctors which at times was maddening but it paid off because here I am.
I still have residual peripheral neuropathy which is a constant reminder of my rny but my health has stopped the downward spiral. now I can walk a couple of miles and do some light excersising whereas before my takedown I couldnt stay awake for more than 2 hours at a time.
I hope you find the help you need

Just don't give up on finding help. I had to go thru 12 different doctors before I got the help I needed. I know how the unrelenting fatigue and depression can make you want to give up. Not to mention the vomiting, pain, mental fog and so on. It can all be maddening.
I live in Colorado and had to fly to NY to get my reversal/takedown. Many bariatric surgeon either won't do it or don't have the training to perform the takedown. It took 3.5 years of me suffering and my family suffering along with me and by the time I had my takedown, while I felt MUCH MUCH better and it stopped the downward spiral, I do have residual neuro damage. Peripheral neuropathy is now a constant reminder of my rny.
Now tho, I can live again. No more vomiting depression insane levels of fatigue.
Basically my food goes into my the rny created pouch and theres a large connection from that to my remnant stomach so i still get full pretty easy when I eat good foods, lean meats veggies and fruit. the rest of my digestive track is reconected and working.
the surgeon that did my reversal did TWO others that same day and we were ALL from different states.
don't give up Marie.
you can email me whenever

Topic: RE: Complications after BPS/DS
Thanks Sharon for your reply :) My surgeon was not unfamiliar with the DS surgery. Unfortunately it's not the one he primarily does. However the complications that arose from the surgery I don't believe was anything that he caused. The internal bleeding was kind of weird, like even he and the surgeons assisting were puzzled by it, because it was many micro bleeds throughout my abdomen, not just around the surgery sites. However they did go in and get it all taken care of, for which I am supremely greatful! LOL!
I have made my way over to the DS board although i don't remember if I had posted about it my surgery or not, I did take a look at the supplementations, advice, and stories of others. From what I have read I am very lucky with my surgeon being so consistent with making sure I'm not vitamin deficient and checking my labs every 3 months for this first year. It looked as though that's not an all together common thing with some of these surgeons, but it is so very important!
I'm very glad that people like you are looking out for us Newbies, and congratulations on meeting and keeping your goal from your DS. :) Thanks again!!
