Topic: RE: 13 years out & some 'issues' to pass along for others
UPDATE: I had my "revision" to deal with the bile reflux on July 27th. The surgeon, Roc Bauman, MD in Concord, NC. I was in-hospital for 3 days and it was done laparoscopically. I'm doing GREAT so far, NO REFLUX at all. I'm almost afraid to type it or say it, as I am still not believing it's gone....just shocked!
I'm thrilled IF this was the 'fix' ~~lenghtening of the roux limb~~and wish I'd done it 12 yrs ago! Can't look back, only forward. I'm back on the good high proteins diet and lost 10 lbs last week.

Topic: RE: IUD stopping effects of RNY?
Weight gain is a documented and published side effect of Mirena. It doesn't happen to most but to the people it DOES happen to, it can mean 10+lbs. Have it taken out and see what happens. They have Paragard which has no hormones but only use it if your periods are otherwise ok. I had one, it works. BUT if you have trouble with your periods, it may make you bleed more.

Hey there,
I know this post is old but I just stumbled on it. I know you are in NC and I don't know about the doctor discussed, but have you tried Duke? They have an excellent reputation, right in Durham. I hope things are better for you now and this post isn't necessary. Best of luck..

Topic: RE: How many of us have had to/need to be revised from the "Band"?
Trying to get that evil alien out of me now. Wish I knew then what I know now. My surgeon said that there is a myth that this band is less invasive. It's not. He said that every one he's revised has had tons of scar tissue and adhesions. Said he may have to leave mine in because of that. If that's the case, I'm calling my attorney. This was supposed to be "less invasive" but story after story says it absolutely is not. It shouldn't be on the market.

It's not even great if you have only 50 pounds to lose, in my opinion. The band left me with a damaged diaphragm, esophageal issues and a whole lot of other complications that nearly killed me. I wish they'd take the damned thing off the market before we all end up damaged or dead.
It's a bad long term option and it's a bad short term option. I totally agree with you, Brian, about how crappy it is!!

Topic: RE: HELP!!!!! I'm having Major problems...
I'm hoping that you've had your band out by now. It's Tuesday.
If food is going into your lungs, you are in trouble, so I hope you'll listen to your surgeon. Keeping the band is a recipe for disaster.
I hope you're OK.

Topic: Recovery time for internal hernia after D S surgery
Found out today I have a hernia after E R trip with excruciating abdomenal pain Sunday night.
I forgot to ask because I was in shock, how long I would be out of work as a Nanny. Appreciate the help.

Topic: How To Find Specialist with GBP Experience?
Hello, I have had many complications since day one. None of them are life threatening but I am losing too much weight and have pain due to serious constipation. I dump all the time despite rigidly controlling carbs. I have a handful of foods that I tolerate well. I could go on but my main point is that I can't find any docs with experience. My PCP will refer me to anyone I find. But I have to find the doc. I'm really hoping to find someone who has had to go it alone and find help? My guess is that my vagus nerve was the main problem (I had internal bleeding for 11 days post op) as I have NO sensation of hunger, no appetite at all. Enough. anyone? Please.
