I would be angry too especially if you specificaly asked for medication.  I don't know about where your from but when I had my RNY I had my procedure done openly instead of laproscopic and they took my gullbladder out at that time because of the high rate of removal post op.
If all the world were blind I wonder how many people would still get this surgery?

It is not a stupid question, and since the notifications are going to spam I didn't see your question until now. I have tried Reglan & Bentyl, and some other anti-spasmodics with no results, and the side effects can be bad enough to be on the 1-800 bad drug commercials that my doctors said that it's not worth the risk if I wasn't getting any relief from them. I wish they had worked!

Have you had any luck with a solution to this?
I am 2 years out from a RouxNYand I have had the the same itching/burning issue for 9 months and I am seriously becoming psychotic over it. The pain and burning and itching cannot be described. I use baby wipes and witch hazel wipes only, no soap in that area in the shower. I have tried Balneol cleansing lotion, witch hazel (that's a real treat), Gold Bond Medicated itching cream (the menthol adds a nice touch of Medieval suffering), Benadril cream, anti-itching cream, Prep H, cortisone cream, to name a few. I have eliminated all but the blandest of foods; no seeds, nuts, no onions or tomatoes, I drink less than 1/2 caf coffee- maybe 2 cups a day. I graduated from Nexium to Dexilant (since I had a bleeding ulcer last year). I had a colonoscopy in January and the doctor said it's Priuritis Ani, a benign itch. I do not buy it. Nothing I do relieves it.
I'm hoping you have heard of something.

did you ever figure this out?  I was getting terrible spasms in my feet to the point of contractures.  when I got my bloodwork back and my calcium was 8.8 - when I increased my calcium, the spasms went away.  It seems every time I get terrible spams in my feet and legs it is from low calcium.

you levels might be in the normal range but it could in the low end of the range and you could not be taking enough/  The range is 8.6 to 10.0 and I was 8.8 we want to be around 9.2 to 9.4 but never below 9.0 so that is why I was cramping so bad.  I got some magnesium to go with it since that helps with muscle spasms - my kidney doctor told me to take it

Thanks Amy! Good luck, and if I have to return again in June, I'll let you know. I think I'll have more of a plan after these appointments. If you need any Cleveland tips, places to stay, etc...let me know :)

I'll be spending a week at the clinic, doctor appointments, tests, and then who knows.. Depends on the tests. I know some of you are also going to Cleveland clinic, so I figured I would see if anyone will be there at the same time, we can meet for tea in the lobby. I've communicated with so many of you, and I truly appreciate the support :)

I would be very careful before letting them cut that nerve - it can cause severe and I mean severe  gastroparesis and along list of problems.

what treatments have you been on for the ulcers?  How were you on for each one?  were you tested for HPylori?  IF it is HPylori - a bacteria and not treated with double antibiotics and a PPI=the ulcer will never heal - a biopsy is needed.  did your surgeon do it or did you see a gastro specialist? I always have my endoscopies at a gastroenterologist.  they do them all day long and know the proper testing and treatment protocols.

at this point, you should go to a major teaching hospital in a Major City= even if it means traveling - Mayoclinic, clevelandclinic, Columbia Presbyterian, Mt Sinai, Johns Hopkins, Duke, Etc.
