Sorry to hear that you are having pain and are back in the hospital.  I have just recently started reading the complications forum and I read your story after seeing some of your posts.  You have really had far more than your share of challenges.  I truly hope that your symptoms are brought under control quickly and that any tests come back okay and you can go home soon.  Take care.

had to come to ER (St. Alexius) this afternoon, sucks, but I'm truly blessed that we got to do our Mother's Day stuff before the pain/nausea reached a ridiculous level. I'm at St. Alexius in room 609 Bed B (window seat, thank goodness). I hope to just be here for a day or so, need to stop the flow of food/drink and get pain/nausea under control. I also have been tasting some blood in the back of my throat off and on, but the only time I've ever had that was after the EGD when I had the esophageal tear, and I haven't had an EGD since then...place that in the zebra pile? I don't know...my care in the ER was so-so, no rudeness, just bad pain/nausea management due to the heavy flow of patients that all came at once (I brought them with me I guess). It's been one of those things where the pain was an 8/10, meds started coming down, but then it came back and by the time you wait 2 hours, it's back to an 8...vicious cycle, same with nausea :

I have had two bowel obstructions operated on.  I agree that if you are in pain then you need to go to the ER because they came be life threatening! I had my last surgery on a Friday and was back to work on Monday.  Healing just depends on the person.  But please get a second opinion!

There are many band to sleeve revisions over on the VSG board, you may want to ask them about their experiences, from what I hear, they LOVE it!

 Hi There,

I can only say to you PLEASE get it checked! I had open Roux-en-y in 1999. I have been having similar problems along with some other symptoms for months. Finally after many test and much agony they discovered that the mesh ring placed around my stoma at surgery had badly eroded and at this point had pushed its way into my intestine causing internal bleeding and all of my other problems. It was a truly life threatening situation due to the damage caused by the ring and the severity of erosion. After a 6 hr surgery by a Dr. I know saved my life I am finally home and seeking legal counsel at this point. Do not ignore any issues you may have. Get anything checked out that seems odd to you.

Best of luck,

D

Topic: Gastrogastric Fistula
Help, i need to know more about Gastrogastric Fistula.  I'll be 10 yr out 11/11/2012.  When I had my R/Y I had a lot of trouble.  A leak and many other problems. Read my my story and you will see.  Now I have put back on 25 pounds, I thought from not eating the way I should, starting throwing up a lot more with a lot of bile.  Started having pain, checked for everything.  Was told this week that I have a Gastrogastric Fistula .  My dr has checked with a bariatric surgeon and they both hope that they can see me heal with medicine.  I am now on Carafate. My question is have any of you been this route and be able to heal with meds.  I really don't want surgery if I can go another way.  I spent ovver 8 weeks in the hospital teh first time.  My weight then was 310 down to 145, now 170.  I am thankful for where I a have been, just want to NOT get into the problems of the past. Any suggestions would be appreciated. may Jesus bless each of you on this journey.

Nate - I have the sleeve and love it but was not a revision. You may want to post your question on the VSG or RNY board. The VSG board has lots of revisions. Good luck!

A bowel obstruction can be life threatening! If your surgeon thinks this is a possibility, and has not taken action to treat/diagnose this, please get another opinion. In the meantime, if you are still having the symptoms, please go to the ER. I hope you feel better soon!
