Topic: Is this complications forum only for RNY?
I've noticed when non-RNY folks come here to ask questions, they are usually referred to the area that deals with their WLS type BUT, there's not really a complications section under each WLS type. Just like this one, it is under "forums/weight loss related/weight loss surgery complications forums" It doesn't say RNY. Mostly I call this to your attention because I have noticed several VSG members bringing up their complications here only to be told they should go to the VSG forum but then I never see them re-post. I just want everyone to get the support they need. Any thoughts? thanks
Topic: RE: 13 years out & some 'issues' to pass along for others
I am having very similar issue. The pain and discomfort is horrid. I was in emergency twice for the pain. It was so bad at one point that I could not lift my arm or bend over. I am seeing a bariatric doc next month. Don't know what he will advise (see my story below)
My history, was 280 day of RNY (2005), never felt much restriction, lost only to 255 a year later, went on nutrisystem, lost to 229 by hard work of dieting and exercise, had to go on hormone therapy for other medical issue, started regaining, now up to 289 with no restriction. Recently had an EGD due to severe GERD and found out my stoma is wide open and so food just drops through. I am scheduled to see a bariatric dr. next month. I want to lose but I am more concerned about the GERD than anything else. The stomach acids just wash back up through my wide open stoma causing severe burning and pain making it difficult to function and especially hard to sleep. I have been in emergency twice because the chest pains can get so bad. Do any of the stoma surgeries (eg stomaphyx or ROSE) help with GERD even if there is no weight loss?

Topic: RE: Severe Stomach Pain
I had same symptoms, turned out to be severe GERD. My stoma is wide open and stomach acid is backing up through the opening. Medication does not help. I am seeing a bariatric doc next month.

Thanks for posting. People don't understand that you can do everything that you are supposed to do and still have problems with WLS that cannot be overcome. Glad to see you are doing better.

Topic: RE: severe complications with stomach pain post op. Anyone else?
I have stomach pain due to severe gerd. Not sure what to do at this point. I don't want another WLS but I want my stoma tightened to prevent the acids from washing back up (see below). I hope there is a minimally invasive solution to my problem.

Topic: RE: 6 Days in the hospital...
Wow Jules.......I just read your entire blog and I can't imagine anyone having to live through all of that! I will be praying that July 6th will bring dramatic change and improvement to your long-term complications. You and your family have endured far too much, for far too long!
I just stumbled on this forum today and cannot imagine what you have suffered through. I am glad to hear that you were hired again.....still working ED? (Health permitting, of course.)
Best wishes to you. I look forward to seeing you post some positive results! (She says, fingers and toes crossed!)

Hi Lorie,, my oyo is tomorrow. Since August last year I have had nothing but a constant stomachache/ pain. Dr says nothing is wrong but the pain, nausea, vomiting has become my everyday life. Dr says no stricture, ulcer, kink, so I guess this is my life now.
