Maybe aloe Vera gel with Lidocaine. It numbs sunburns.

Topic: Incision Site

The incision sites from my RNY and complication surgerys still hurt 5 months out.  Surgeon says I may be in pain for a year or more.  I don't want to spend the next year on pain pills.  Does anyone recommend a topical treatment lotion or cream for the pain?

Who performed your surgery?  I had a 'revision' done by RoseMarie Jones and to say the least she hacked on me!

You may want to try the RNY board - this one is specifically about complications.

Topic: Taking steps to Gastric bypass

I am just getting started in taking the steps to have the gastric by pass surgery done. I have prayed a lot about this and done my research and still want to know more. Currently I have type 2 diabetes, neuropathy in both my feet. Two deteriorating  disk in my lower back, sleep apnea and asthma. I work a full time job that keeps me on my feet and takes everything out of me. I have tried diets and exercise. The most I have lost was 35 pounds and put it all back on and them some. I feel this is the right thing for me to do. Am I a little scared? You bet however I am in constant pain now and have been for more than 10 years mainly because of my back. I have a lot of support from family and friends, but I am wanting to hear from those who have had it done. I see mostly complaints, is there any good?

I am somewhere around 10 years post op.  Since the surgery I lost about 200 but  after 2 csection I have gained back a significant amount I just found out through an ent I have reflux so I'm wondering do I need to get further tests to make sure it's not something else? what type of tests should I get?

It doesn't have to be your life. After 3.5 years of a myriad of issues associated with my rny I had my surgery reversed.
It saved my life and brought my health back to me.

I also had a myriad of issues post rny. After 3.5 years of suffering I had my surgery takendown. It was the best decision I could have made. It resolved many of my issues but I still struggle with memory issues, fatigue, peripheral neuropathy and pain. But ALL my problems got better which in turn tells me they were all related to my rny.
I hope for the best for you

Topic: RE: Trouble with your support system
I ABSOLUTELY feel guilty for putting my family thru all that they have. My inability to work caused us to lose our home, cars, dogs and way of life.
The lack of support is astounding. Even my wls community peers seem to go on the attack when I mention the negative things that I've encountered because of wls.
Its sad that surgeons will line up around the block to perform the surgery, but then talk about how dangerous a takedown is, like cutting up perfectly working organs to begin with is sooooo safe.
I had my rny takedown 3.5 years after my wls and its the best thing I could have done. My takedown was 4 years ago and I had to fly from Colorado to new York to get it done but it was absolutely worth it.

Topic: RE: Stomach pain after hernia repair?
something similar has happened to me. I had my RNY8 years ago. I have had several hetnia repairs with mesh. over the summer I became very ill and was in the hopital for 2 weeks, many test, low blood count, infection, low iron and sevetal other systoms. no one could fiqure what was going on. I know the abdominal pain was awful., not even pain m would last long. finally before the holidays the fiqure it all was possibly caused from the mesh in my abdominal. I bwen telling them something was wrong. because I co fe knots and pins. things that didnt feel normal. well 10 days ago I had open hetnia repair and mesh removal. they went in and that top mesh was a mess. it was folded and buckled. now I not sure if is the mesh that has a recall. I am still in enormous pain. I fell like more than when I was in the hospital. I sm passing gas, but have so much pressure. cold and hot sweats. I have a belly binder it helps alittle. I just want the pain to go.
