Hi Everyone,
I am 4 years out from RNY. andI have developed progressive poly-neuropathy. My neurologist had me do a 75mg oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) to see if blood sugar issues might be causing the problem. My A1C and fasting blood sugar are normal, The resuls form the OGTT were as follows:
fasting 91
30 min 209
60 min 62
90 min 30
120 min 62
He thinks I have both high blood sugar and reactive hypoglycemia. How do the docs distinguish dumping from reactive hypoglycemia? I have certainly been having more tachycardia and sweatiness after eating some of the time.
I have a referral to an endocrinologist in a week or so and am watching my diet carefully (high protein, then some fat and complex carbs) and will monitor blood sugar. In the meantime, I'd love some input from the group's collective wisdom! Thanks! Cheryl
Oh, and I added you on FB but there was option to add that I'm from OH (from Cali.).
Hi Robin, hope that you are now doing well. I had roux-n-y in 07 with gallbladder removed beginning of this year. Now, after being hosptilized with pancreatitius I find out that that I have a billary stricture and/or sphincter of oddi. I'm wondering if you found out answers and how it was resolved.
Best,
Melanie

BTW, your surgeon Dr. Irgau, took out my GB at Christiana Hospital. Dr. Wynn has done several surgeries on me as well after my RNY, but had my RNY done in up state NY and B.O.B in Mexico. I do attend the support groups at Christiana since I live in DE.
Do you mean ppl can be an abbrevation for people, if you are talking about PPIs, which are Proton Pump Inhibitors and they are prescribed to help reduce the amount of acid created. I've been on them forever. I've also had infusions of Protonix which is one of them, when inpatient as I had major problems with ulcers....other drugs that fall into the category of ppi's is Prevacid, Prilosec, Nexium. Protonix (pantorprazole) is also made for oral use, too. While it's not meant to be a long term treatment, I've been on it for 8 years and will also have to be on sometimes carafate and omeraprazole (which is the generic for Prevacid ....I still have horrific acid reflux. Among other things.,,, I hope you get the relief you need.,,,
