Topic: RE: Ulcer pain or Hernia pain?
That is exactly what mine turned out to be! However, my recovery has not been so easy, the doc had to do my repair partially open, and I developed an abcess in my wound. So now I am home recovering and packing an open wound in my belly 2x daily. The doc thinks he may be able to do some type of closure on it next week. I am also having a lot of trouble with nausea and vomiting even with just trying full liquids. Did you have any trouble with that? I had my surgery 6/18
Topic: RE: gerd surgery after rny bypass
Did you ever have the nissen fundoplication surgery? I had two nissen fundos because of the acid/gerd and Barrett's esophagus and they both failed, so I had to gastric bypass surgery on April 25, 2007 to get rid of the acid part of my stomach. I also had my gallbladder taken out two weeks after gastric bypass, now I still have acid reflux, however they say it cant be acid cause that part of my stomach is no longer there, it's probably bile so they put me on meds for that. Hope things have worked out for you by now and you are feeling better.

You scare the heck out of me. Please let me know what you find out at the lung doctors. Don't let them try and talk to you like it is "mental, anxiety, imaginary, etc. They did this to me on two occasions and both times I ended up having surgery!!!! How old are you and do you have any other diagnosis that might be causing the SOB?
I really think mine is related to how I'm walking bent over and this huge hernia. I was scheduled to have it repaired and a lumpectomy on right boob, but my mom just came up with a dx of leukemia and I'm putting off the hernia indefinitely and the lumpectomy until end of July. The breathlessness comes at the weirdest times and it takes me a while to get my air back. By then, I'm a little nervous and tend to try and take deep breaths and more rapidly and it makes it even worse. My hernia sticks out really far and if I walk straight up it seems to hurt me more, so I'm walking bent. Well, that is what my DH says anyway. My mother was put in for emergency surgery on Monday for a trach and I was just trying to eat, my stomach knotted up and seemed like I couldn't get a full breath. I swear for the first time in my life that I had a big fat anxiety attack. Then my fingers and feet were tingling, like I wasn't getting enough oxygen to them. Took quite a while to get myself settled down and a normal breath.
Please let me know what you find out. I'm sorry you are have trouble breathing, scares the heck out of you doesn't it?! I'll keep you in my prayers.

Did you ever find out what the pain was from? Are you feeling better now?
Topic: RE: Stomach problems 6 yrs. post op.
Did you ever find out what the pain was from, as I had my surgery April, 2007 and have stomach pain daily and have to lay in bed with a heating pad and go to sleep, this stomach pain even wakes me up in the middle of the night. Also whenever I drink protein drinks (any kind) I get extremely nauseated and sick. I have an endoscopy at the end of the month with my GI doc before seeing my surgeon.

Topic: RE: Hypoglycemia information for all-xpost
Dear Karen,
I hope my husband's information will be of some help.
Be sure to take a copy of his analysis with you when you go to your doctor.
If you would like to know more about my husband, just google his name; he trained at Vanderbilt, did a fellowship at Johns Hopkins & the NIH, so he is pretty well respected.
Good luck with your quest for health!!!
Therese

Hi Amarilli59,
I was very excited to read your post. I had my surgery on August 29, 2007 and have lost 136 pounds. When my weight was in the 130's I started with low blood sugars and have been fighting the battle since. I have spoken with the NUT and have been trying to follow the several small meals, complex carbs, etc. but what I have found is that when I am stressed my BS drop, when I eat fruit my BS drop, sometimes my BS just drop. I go to Curves 5-6 days a week and walk daily.
I will be seeing my surgeon on July 21st and will address it again with her but I am concerned because at times my BS drops to 43 and somedays I feel like that is all I am doing is chasing low BS and eating to the point of frustration.
I am an RN in the critical care area so I am aware of the seriousness of all of this but I am not a NUT or doctor and I am so frustrated, worried, and concerned. thanks for your posting and listening to me vent. Any input you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Karen Schworm
