Topic: RE: Complications worth the surgery?
Yes, it's all due to WLS.
I have to have yet ANOTHER surgery -- I think sooner than I would like. I have a HUGE abdominal hernia and severe left side pain. It feels like another obstruction. Since the hernias have to be repaired, he will check out everything else while he has me open. I am NOT happy.

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side. The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

Sounds like it could be from an ulcer. Ask your Dr. about getting a scope done to check for a possible ulcer. An ulcer causing a gnawing, burning type of pain.
Best of luck to you. I have had several ulcers and other complications as well.

Topic: 1 year post-op pain
I am 13 months post-op and and in June I went in for another surgery to have my gallbladder removed. After that I was still having little episodes of pain that felt like pancreatitus. My pcp gave me some medications because she said it is actually acid causing the pain. I also have a little dull ache on my left side after I eat certain things. When I had my GB taken out by my actual wls surgeon he said i didn't appear to have any hernias. Well, yesterday I woke up feeling sore in my chest. I feel a little pain in both my chest and below my rib cage just about every time I swallow anything. I feel discomfort with even drinking at bit of water. Friday, i ate some stuff I probably shouldn't have.
Today, I am going to not eat any solid foods, just liquids and soft food that is not spicy or acidy. My question is do you think my pouch is just irritaded because of bad food choices and it will subside if I baby it for a couple of days? Does anyone relate to any of this?
Note: I am currently taking antibiotics for the past 3 days for a UTI...

Topic: RE: Anyone had food get into their afferent limb?
Believe me when I say I know how you feel.
I had a PICC line with TPN the first 8.5 weeks and then a G-tube for almost 8 months and if my nut had her way I would still have that thing.

No, you are not a total freak, but it is a rare complication.
I had surgery on July 7 to have this corrected. But when they got in there, they found that at some point I had a perforated ulcer and my pouch and remnant had grown together causing a fistula. So that had to be fixed first and he didn't dare do the repair of the other at that time.
I am waiting to fully heal from that and then have the 'y' connection redone sometime in October.
It hasn't been a great last 6 months carting this J tube around in my stomach.
I feel for ya.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not a total freak with this issue.
My surgery was Tuesday and I feel horrible still. :( The pain is worse than my RNY

Yes, I have been dealing with this for a long time. I have had a drainage tube in my remnant stomach since March. Excess bile and some food stuff builds up in my remnant and there is lots of pain involved. I am going to have another surgery in October to redo the 'Y' connection. That is where they think I am intermittently kinking up.
I understand your pain and frustration.
