Topic: RE: Severe Food Intolerance?
Hi Carol,
Thanks for the reply.  I have been using Light Soy milk and Hoods Calorie Countdown 2 % (3 g sugar in 8 oz).  I only use 4-5 oz at a time so I have avoided getting sick that way.  Boy, sounds like you have a tough road.  6 g of sugar seems like a small amt to have to avoid to me.  Thanks again, Treading

6 grams of sugar?  man I'm 3 years out and I still can't tolerate any food that high in sugar.  I use Silk Soy unsweetened.  Your symptoms sure sound like dumping syndrome to me.  I have many food issues so I'm very careful about avoiding dairy, wheat, corn......I use a ON soy protein powder that is low carb and 8 ozs unsweetened soy.  That's breakfast along with my black coffee:-)  Anyways, you might wanna try a lower sugar content drink.  Good luck.  It's all trial and error isn't it?

Topic: RE: Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia AFTER WLS
Well I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia prior to the RNY but I am currently in the same fatigue situation as you.  I just got my extensive lab results back and was told I am very low in zinc and that my red blood cell count is low as well.  However my GP thinks other than a zinc supplement, that that is all I need to do.  After some more extensive research on my part this morning, apparently the hair loss, fatigue, odorous urine is something more serious.  So I guess I'll be making a trip to my surgeon who is out of state.

As a side note, I don't believe that anyone is more compliant with their vitamin regieme, food intake, etc than I am so for me to pop up with a vitamin defficiency is a huge surprise to me.  I hope everyone is getting their labs done routinely as to head things off at the pass.

Your doctor must suspect an internal hernia and/or bowel obstruction in order to do exploratory surgery.  If you do have a bowel obstruction, it can become fatal and quickly.  I'd go ahead with his recommendation especially if having abdominal pain (which you don't mention?) or changes in bowel movements (which you don't mention?)

I hope you feel better ASAP.  Please let us know what you decide.

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side.  The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

I don't have any back pain, it is just sore around the tube site.  I had my scope this morning and am having surgery on the JJ site tomorrow at 3 pm.

I will let you know how it goes when I can.  I am supposed to be in the hospital for two days if all goes well.

Topic: Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia AFTER WLS
I am currently 4 1/2 years post-op.  I am anemic and on B-12 shots.  Over the last 6 months I have developed all the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue and/or Fibromyalgia.  I know that anyone that has been there knows what a frustrating time it is to try and obtain a diagnosis.  I can sleep for 12 hours get up and take a shower and go back to bed.  I have gone through the it's your diet, you are depressed, you need to cut out caffeine, etc.  I have never been more compliant to a doctor and never more miserable! Has anyone not developed either of these until after WLS? I am looking for any suggestions on getting a correct and timely diagnosis. My quality of life is suffering terribly!

I have been extremely nauseated and vomiting off and on for about a month I had a CT scan and it only showed a tiny belly button hernia.  Has anyone had this happen?  My doctor wants to do a laproscopy and dig around to see wahts wrong.  i have only been at my new job 6 months so me taking off to have surgery is not a really good choice.  I started taking ginger root 2 days ago and I haven't thrown up for 2 days.  before that I could only keep down soup or mashed potatoes.  I am scared and don't know what to do.

Just wondering if you have had any resolution to your problem? I am thinking low blood sugar, but also maybe MS, or something more serious. Hope it has resolved by now.
