Topic: RE: Any complications after VSG?
My husband had his VSG on 10/27/08.  He says his stomach hurts each time he smells food, sees a food commercial, etc.  Is this normal?

Not much better.  With the tube out all of the sx are back.  I had two attacks of the double you over pain last week lasting about 4 hours each and thought I was going to have to go back to the ER but it eventually subsided.  For the last four days nausea but no bad attacks.  I had the gall bladder scan this morning.  Am praying that it provides an answer.

Yes, tomorrow will be two weeks.  I feel somewhat better today, but the drainage has returned with a vengence.

Last night, we were at a church supper listening to music.  While I was sitting there, all of a sudden I felt the warm wet feeling.  I looked down and the tube was leaking.  Oh no..............   Got into the bathroom and the cap had popped open and the stuff was just pouring out of me.  How embarrassing!!!  DH brought me my jacket and we had to rush home.  There was so much pressure that the tube cap had just pushed open.  I don't understand why sometimes I have very little drainage and other times, there is tons.

I have to go for bloodwork later this week, and I will check in with the Dr. then also.

How are things going for you?

Topic: weird pains
Hi, I had my lap band put in August of 07. I've been doing o****il this past June when my not so healthy tissue decided not to support my port and it started traveling thru the scar where I was able to see it. It took 4 diferent antibiotics and finally surgery to correct it. I have been better since then until last friday. I woke up with a dull pain under my sternum that readiates up into my neck and head. Went to see my surgeon who took out 2 ccs of fluid from my ring. The pain started about 2 hours again after that. It has now been about 10 days and I can pinpoint when it will happen. Mornings, when I stand up or talk to loud. It wakes me up when I am sleeping from rolling over. It actually feels like something is moving inside me and has to settle before the pain stops. It usually lasts for 5 to 10 seconds and is a bad dull ache. Also cant take a deep breath. Seens to feel better when my stomach is full.  Any thoughts?    I appreciate any feedback.    Thanks,    Elisa

You might want to check in with him to let him know how you are doing before the 20th.  Did he say how long you could anticipate still being in pain from the surgery?  Hopefully you would be feeling less of it now?  Worth letting him know you are still struggling...will it be 2 weeks Tuesday?

I really don't know when he'll take the tube out.  I see him on the 20th again and I suppose it will depend on how I am feeling then.

I am up now with pain, wonder if it will ever end???

Tough to tell where it's coming from......when I have the acute double you over take your breath away pain it's usually left upper quadrant but now it's also right upper quadrant and TERRIBLE INDIGESTION behind my breast bone.  Feels like I am having a heart attack if I didn't know better.  I do think my gallbladder might be involved and at least once they do that test on Monday they will be able to see how the bile flows and where it goes to so that may give us a better idea of the problem.  I am fairly confident that the bile is what is causing all of the sx since when I had the tube in and the bile could drain out I was relatively sx free.  I had some occasional mild belching during the 4 weeks it was in but no upper quadrant pain and no episodes of the double you over type of pain.  Sorry to hear you are still having pain.  Do you have any clue when your doc will consider taking out the GT?

I hope it is your gallbladder, I just wish I still had one to blame this on!!

Does your remnant ever feel like it is 'spasming'?  That is what I describe mine as doing.   It was acting up most of the night last night.   I am so tired of this............

Hope they find something on Monday that explains what's going on.

Your remnant is still probably irritated from the previous bile exposure.  I bet it will take a while before it will be less inflammed.  When they did my scope thru the tube the report said it was active chronic gastritis indicating that the cells had changed because of the ongoing irritation from the bile.  I am having a HIDA scan on Monday to check out gall bladder funtion and to see how the bile is actually flowing from the liver down to the intestine.  I am praying they tell me oh yes it's your gall bladder that is causing all of the trouble since that would be a quick fix.  Still out of work since I had two more acute attacks this week and ongoing nausea which is unpredictable.

Topic: RE: Pain in abdomen, chest area....
Hello.  I thought I was alone in this and perhaps being somewhat of a chronic complainer? I have been experiencing the exact same symptoms. The pain in the belly button region and up towards my breast bone does become unbearable.  I have been to the ER, I have been told it was Gas.  After addressing that, the pain persists, BACK to the ER and nothing significant is found.  I have h-pylori, but am told by my GI doc that it does not cause severe pain as I have described.  I had surgery about 5 - 6 years ago and have lost about 150 lbs.  I have also had my gall bladder removed and have a small hernia.   This also should not be causing problems? I am scheduling an appointment with my Surgeon asap.  Its kinda scary.  THe pain is intense and has caused me to not be able to work and function normally around the house.  Please keep me updated with any and all diagnosis and all relief methods. Thanks!
