What was diagnosed was that I had an enlarged stoma. With the revision it was decided not to revise my pouch, but to bypass more of the intestines, which now makes me an Extended RNY. This also causes major malabsorption. We were expecting that when I was bypassed more that I would have more reactive hypoglycemic incidents. So far, I haven't had this problem as I have to get 100-150gm of protein a day. That does help to stabalize the blood sugars. Hopefully this helps.
My endocrinologist said their was a medication that helps, but since mine wasn't an everyday occurance, he wasn't going to prescribe anything. I don't recall the name of the medication either.
they reverse your bypass?

I'm having dull pain in my upper left quadrant that goes through to my back. I'm also feeling a little bloated in the same area. I have no issues eating, no vomiting, no fever, and I have normal BMs daily. It's just uncomfortable. I had my surgery almost a year and a half ago and had issues right at the beginning with my gastric remnant backing up with bile and it ruptured. I have had no issues since then. I'm worried the remnant may be backing up again...
Has anyone heard of issues where the remnant ruptured this far out from surgery? I really don't want to go to the ER if I don't have to...
Thoughts?

Can only dream about getting the GLP-1 test since there are not any labs in my state that will run this test!!
My Doctor had them attach a copy of one of the studies asking that they follow the protocol in the article when doing the Arterial Calcium Stimulation test. Sorry, but I'm not sure which study he was referring to. I will find out and update the post.
I do know that what they are looking for is to see if my Insulin level increases significantly when my glucose level drops or if stays the same.
Hypo each time doesn't sound fun but at this point, if it would help them get this under control so I could go back to work, I would do it for hours!
Take Care, Lorrie
and how he will test you during episod?
what he will do as test ?
the GLP-1 CONCENTRATION ?
the INSULINE LEVEL ? when you are in hypoglycemia ?
a for my part they give it to me 2 can of ensure... that I had to drink in 15 min and be a sleep for 2 hours and he was taking test each 15 min
hypo each time...
good luck
