Topic: RE: I need a patient advocate or advice
I know this much you are suppose to have 90 days after surgery where if you have a problem or have to be seen its covered....rather its cash or insurance.sounds like you need to check your states laws concerning this and print it off take it to the surgeon and make him or her eat crow....
thank God my surgeons would never do that to me...I had to have emergency surgery and was not charged for it

Topic: RE: pain in upper abdomen?? plz help!
I have had pain like that and it turned out to be a hernia..but at 13 weeks I doubt that you would have so soon unless you strained or sneezed real hard and felt something and heard a popping sound.
It aslo sounds like a stricture...
just try to not worry cause it wont help any
good luck

Topic: another compilcation
Since my rny of 11/5/07 I have had 8 surgeries each one was just another bump for me. On 11/5/08 I had a huge hernia repair and a tummy tuck. When I went to see the surgeon about some drainage I was told my hernia is back. So here goes surgery number 10 sometime in June or July depending on how big it gets and if it starts to strangle me....
The worst part is this little demon is causing me alot of pain...and I getting sick of pain...
Just wonder how much more I can take

Topic: RE: dental problems after surgery?
Dental problems are a frequent and seldom told complication of wls - due to malnutrition issues the teeth tend to decay. There is some thought too that the exposure of a large number of protein drinks may have some impact too.
Good luck - I know nothing about military - so can't help you on that issue.
However, I would imagine you could find somewhere cheaper then $6000 for the total pull and dentures - my husband had his done a few years ago (NOT due to wls) and we paid about $1,000 after insurance.

Topic: dental problems after surgery?
I had my surgery july 16 2005 and in the last year my teeth have started to rot away to the point i can not eat anything hard and when I brush my teeth my teeth fall off in pieces I am Military Dependent and trying to get tricare to cover this because I had a dentist in Maryland tell me he had some patients have the same problem but since I am not longer his patient I can not get that information sent to me :( I am frustrated because the dental insurance will only pay a small part which leaves me 6000 to come up with to get all teeth pulled and dentures in.I am in so much pain and I am mad that I was not told this could happend I was 266 when I had surgery I am now down to 95-110 I wear my daughters clothes size 12 and 14 in girls I do have a little pudge and the rest of the skin in the back area just dropped down if anyone knows how to get this fixed through tricare or has had this problem please let me know
thank you

Topic: RE: Signs of Gallbladder issues & medications
I had a dull ache that would radiate up my back and to my shoulder blades. I also just felt sick to my stomach allot! I had many "tests" to check my gallbladder which were all fine, one did show a "slow" to drain gallbladder (I think drain is the right word) . Anyway, after all the testing they decided to remove it anyway. They found "sludge" in it and said that eventually the sludge turns into stones. I have had none of the above mentioned symptoms since removing it.

Topic: RE: XPOST: Gall Bladder Surgery Last Monday and in BIG Pain
Right there with everyone else! Had my GB out in FEb 08 and OMG I was so not prepared for the pain! I took milk of magnesia, but dont overdue it, LOL. Gas pain is horrible, I dont understand why people say that when babies smile it's Gas! HELLO! The gas I have exp'd never made me smile! LOL
I also had liver biopsies and the dr said that could have been the source of the "extra" pain. Try walking, it helps with being stiff but also helps with the gas!
Good luck!!!

im not sure about your doc but my they are cool for 1 year any complication the surgeons fee is waived but everything else the hospital and anything like that i would have to pay. I was lucky bc my insurance covered everything else. I hope that helps talk to the doctor directly maybe he could waive or reduce his personal fee or maybe it is something that he can fix in the office or outpatient so you do not have ALL of the additional cost of the hospital stay.

Topic: I need a patient advocate or advice
I'm having a small problem with my lap band. My surgeons stiches on the port came loose and his office doesn't think he should be responsible for fixing it because I was a cash pay patient and my "surgery was so deeply discounted, they won't cover the complication!"
I'm just now hitting my 90 days post-op.
I need to talk with someone about my patient rights and the doctors responsibility in this fiasco.
Any and all ideas or advice welcome.
