Hello! I have a myraid of complications and "reversal" has been mentioned for me to consider. I am over 4 years out.
You are only 7 months out. What complications are you having that a reversal would be considered?

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side. The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

Topic: RE: Severe anemia no iron Questions
Hey All,
I have not posted out here forever because I consider myself a WLS failure. I never reach goal and have started gaining weight back. I started at 362 and I am at 280 right now. I had originally lost #120lbs. I had my RNY in Aug 2005. I had a huge hernia repair done in Jan 2008 and it also was a minor bowel obstruction. In July of 2008 I had emergency surgery for a twisted ovary (not wls related) Sept 2008 gall bladder removed. Oh yea, between all of that I seperated from my husband lololol... Just wanted to give you all a little back ground information...
As of today I have severe depression, severe anemia, low blood count and have not a clue about my B-12. I am tired all the time. Falling asleep at my desk and not really able to do much else but work. I am going for my first Lupron Shot tomorrow to bring on menopause because I can not afford to have any more blood loss. My OBGYN says my only other option is a hysterectomy. I dont even know if I am on the right path with all of this. I do lot see my WLS doc anymore. His follow-up care was not for *H*T. I am now going to to a different doc that I love...
If anyone can be of any support please let me know. I am in the Pittsburgh PA area and giving up hope fast.

Topic: RE: My drain is finally OUT after my 12/9/08 RNY
Oh my! What was the infection from? Did you still have alot of draining before they pulled it out? I noticed on my just yesterday that I had a little bit of blood in the tube area. I don't know if maybe its because its really healing up and every little movement I make pulls on the stitch. Or if maybe something else is happening. Sheesh how long do these darn leaks take to heal? What happens if they remove the drain before the leak heals. Or would they even remove the drain if there is still a leak and how the heck do they even know? I am going to my doctor tomorrow to see if they'll remove the dang thing. Its really starting to jab my side and the area around the tube is starting to heal and scab. I'm not due to actually go back till the 24th but I called him up and told him its been bothering me so they want the doctor to look at it and determine whether or not its possible. I hope they'll remove it. I don't think i can handle this thing another day! The deferred pain was that after they removed your drain?
Topic: RE: A few questions
I'm on my third week post op and I'm like you. I can basically eat anything as long as I chew it really really well. Nothing has gotten me sick to my stomach (yet). Hopefully it doesn't happen. I've tried chicken really moist. But I chew like crazy till there is hardly anything left to swallow. I also tried tuna and I tried a little bit of red meat and pork spareribs. I mean everything in small portions. Nothing major. Just little bites and samples of these foods. I've also tried avocados, watermelon. Nothing's made me puke. So I'm very happy. I did try beans with melted cheese on top that was also good. One thing I notice which don't know if its normal and if others are going through this or have gone through it. I notice I am constantly grazing through the day. Like I'll eat an egg scrambled and a couple hours I'll need to get a grapefruit and naw on that for a little bit. But I notice I'm constantly needing to snack on something or drink something. I think it might be the way I chew my food before I swallow I try to chew till it completely gone before swallowing. So maybe I'm not allowing my stomach to feel full? Could it be that possibly.
Topic: RE: unable to tolerate almost anything
Do you have your gall bladder?? If so, you may want to get it checked out.
I had a RNY in Sept. 08 with many complications: bowel adhesion from surgery, gall bladder failure/removal in Dec. 08, extreme nausea and through all of this NOT ABLE TO KEEP HARDLY ANYTHING DOWN. I had great medical staff who were very supportive and understood what I was going through. There is a lot of guilt when you're "not on the program" the way it is laid out. The most important thing is to stay in contact with your medical staff so they know your status. I had many trips to the ER/doctor to get nutritional IVs because they didn't want me to get "too far down."
You might want to try popsicles, small bites of banana, and soups. Some days all I had was popsicles and still felt ill, but at least I was getting something in. Also, be aware of the artificial sweeteners in your food; I know myself and others who after the surgery aren't able to tolerate this.
It took me 7 months to feel normal again and during the process and there were many times I regretted the surgery. Now, I am able to eat, take my supplements, exercise. This process takes a lot of patience and trust of the medical profession.
Good Luck!!

Thank you for posting this! I had a leak also. Just got my drain out last Thursday and had it in for 16 weeks. When it was trying to come out, they restiched it to me
...I got a bad infection in my abdomen after the drain came out, it was like pulling raw chicken apart. It was in there good!

Did you have RNY or Lapband? I think the biggest reason that you need to follow the slow food progression is that you do no want to risk eating something that is going to make you ill, because you can do some real damage to the sutures/connections on the inside if you start vomiting, you may feel almost healed on the outside, but it takes a lot longer to heal on the inside
Topic: A few questions
I am almost 2 weeks post-op and I can take bites of practically everything. What risks am I taking when I take these bites?
I was supposed to be on pureed foods for a week, but about the third day I got sick of the crap they gave me to eat, so I started to eat eggs, cream of wheat, and really, really moist, tiny pieces of chicken? Did I screw up? Will this effect my weight loss?
I was not expecting my hunger to be this way. I thought I wasn't going to want to eat anything, but I don't feel that way. I get hungry, but nothing like I did proior to surgery. I was not expecting to feel hunger until way down the road. What should my "hunger level" be?
What risks am I taking if I eat food too fast? Sometimes, when I eat, I feel a sharp pain for a few seconds. Is this bad, or does it mean I'm just eating or drinking too fast?
What will it feel like if i get something stuck? Will I feel it immediately? What does it feel like on the pain scale?
Did you guys take little bites of things that your friends and family were eating this early post-op? Is it going to hurt me in anyway by doing that?
Anything else you could tell me to do would be super duper! I know most of these questions I should ask my doctor, but my two week check-up isn't until Tuesday. I went to the doctor this Tuesday and I ahd lost 44 pounds in just three weeks! The doctor said that was too much at one time and told me to get more intake.
Thanks! I am listing this as urgent because I only have a few days. Is that right?
