Topic: RE: Anyone with remnant stomach issues?
Her symptoms were that she couldn't eat or drink anything more than a sip because her remnant stomach was so distended that it was pressing on the new pouch.  Once they inserted the tube which was very irritating for her as well she felt better.  She just got the tube out today and told her she should feel blessed because of your story and another, having to have it in for months. I was shocked to hear that people were having this problem quite some time after their surgery...  I thought it only happened when you had just had surgery.  I really appreciate you sharing your story and taking the time to respond to me...THANK YOU so much. I was so worried about her, and I was the one who talked her into the surgery so I felt really guilty.  I pray for the your speedy healing. Again thank you so much for your time. I'm sorry that I didn' respond earlier I didn't see the response until I went on my email...Oh one question off topic...I have been trying to upload a ticker from the ticker factory would you happen to know how to do that?

Topic: Hernia's after surgery
About a year after surgery i was helping a friend move and I got an intestinal hernia (BE CAREFUL about that people. it really sucks). I was in pain for weeks before I figured out what was going on. Day to day I was ok, except when i ate, I felt like there was a cement block in my stomach. My intestine was twisting and no food was getting through. They only way I felt better was to throw up or wait and eventually it would go down. My surgeon went in and fixed the problem and then everything was great. I no longer was losing weight after that. I figured I plateaued. Thinking back on it. I wonder if the fact that food was sitting the pouch trying to force its way down stretched my stomach. I always felt like I plateaued earlier then I was suppose to. I'm not angry about it. I lost 130lbs. I have another 50 or so I'm trying to lose on my own now.

I really just want to know if something like this happened to anyone else?

Tips for dealing with a stretched pouch?

any other advice! im a sponge!

Topic: RE: NESIDIOBLASTOSIS hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia?RYGB
I am better than 10 years post op.  I have had extremly low blood sugars for several years.  Sometimes as low as 30.  And yes I can walk and talk when I am that low.  My endo is starting to think nesidioblastosis.  I am just wondering about what kind of testing you all went through and what I should be asking for.  BTW I lost about 200 pounds.

Being anemic can be fatal.  The Mayo Clinic is the best place to find your answers.

Topic: RE: Pre op getting worried from all of the complications that are posted
I was told I had 2 years to live with my weight being what it was and all my health issues.  To me, it was a chance I was willing to take because I'd rather have another 10-15 years of life than 2.  It's up to you to outweigh the benefits and risks.

Topic: Recovery time after big fix????
Hi.  I am 10 years post of from an open RNY.  After having problems for 10 weeks and being misdiagnosed and even going through an unnecessary surgery, I was finally correctly diagnosed with an internal hernia and had emergency surgery.  What the surgeon found was a mess.  I had a blockage where my small bowel had moved into the hernia and tied itself in a knot.  He had to do a small bowel resection and re-do the Y limb of my RNY.  It took him 3.5 hours to do.  I am 4 weeks post op and I still hurt and have little energy.  Does anyone know what the recovery time is for a major surgery like this?  I'm getting better but it's taking so long...

Thanks.

Call your surgeon, it may be nothing, but it could be serious.
Do not wait, better to be safe than sorry.
Hope you feel better.

Sorry to hear about your sister.  What are her symptoms?  And what has the surgeon said they think is wrong?  I eneded up going back to work and am doing okay.  I changed my job and it's less stressful and I am happier so I think that also makes a difference.  I still have symptoms and they come and go without any warning and not related to what I eat or don't eat.  I have just learned to live with it.  Thankfully the nausea is no longer an issue.  Just episodes of severe, double you over type of pain and it can last minutes to hours.  Also tremendous amounts of gas, bloating, belching....this is an every day occurence.  It's nice to be thin but the symptoms are difficult to manage.

How are you doing after the surgery, my sister had bypass on 031109, and is having the same issues.  How long after surgery did your issues start?
