I had Gastric Bypass in June 2004 and in January 2005 I was having MAJOR gas pains that would come and go like contractions. I couldn't pass anything either. I finally went to my doctor who immediately put me in the hospital to do exploratory of my abdomen. Come to find out, I was losing so fast that a couple of my sutures had come loose causing holes in my intestines. When I would eat, my intestines would "contract" and were being "sucked" in and out of the holes, hence the major pains.
Go see your doctor. He may say it will pass, but rather be safe than let it get worse. I am now 5 years out and I am starting to experience a different kind of gas pain. It is relieved when I sit or bend for a few minutes. The weirdest thing! But....I am not eating or drinking the right things, so I have decided to just "start over" and get off the caffeine and other things I shouldn't be eating.

Topic: MRSA???
Has anyone had MRSA after WLS? I have had several compliations like an open wound and dialation, plus perferated intestines, but now my Dr. thinks I might have MRSA? Scared any help would be great.
Topic: ercp after gastric bypass
had wls 7 years ago and about 2 months ago started having pains and was found to have gallbladder disease. Last week I had the gall out and while they did a cholangeogram before surgery, the dr saw a tiny distal common bile duct mass. Had an MRCP the day after surgery which stated it was a mass but did not show up on all the slides. Now I am awaiting my gastro doc to find a facility and dr to complete an ercp on wls pts. Did anyone out there her of this. I know its pretty rare and am affrain of this mass being something I don't want to deal with Please let me know if you are familiar with this. LOL Kris

Has anyone reversed the RNY or know of anyone who did this....please let me know the experience and are you or they happier now

My doctor diagnosed me as hypoglycemic last week. He said the only way to control it is with diet so he would have me meet with a dietitian to setup a plan. He also said it is very individual so it might need some tweaking to find exactly what works for me.

I am a year VSG postop and have been having hypoglicemia for a couple of months.
I just posted on the VSG forum about a horrible episode I had today, I took my blood sugar and was at 45. I've been having episodes for the past few weeks and I did not have hypoglicemia before surgery. I am not diabetic. What do you do to control these episodes, a change in diet?

Insurance is so goofy...I was self pay with my band and then it slipped and I had to go in for surgery to reposition it back in place....they ended up taking it out because of erosion but insurance paid for that...no quesitons asked because it was an ouptatient procedure. So would they have covered my band placement??? Since it was outpatient as well?!?! I'll never know!

I don't know the answer to your quesiton but it does seem like surgery does weird things to our bodies!
I never had cramps with my periods...ever! And then after I had surgery, I'd get the most awful cramps ever.....no I'm on the depo shot so no problem anymore...but it was weird!
