I had my bypass in april of this year. However, i have not been able to eat or drink anything and i was in constant pain. Everytime i went to the hospital i would be kept there and yet they would tell me nothing was wrong (why keep a person for five to eight days if nothing is wrong?).
The surgeon who did my original surgery said it was all in my head.
In june i finally found a doctor who thought something wasn't right with my pouch. since my original surgery was in april he didn't want to do anything b/c it was way too early.
I had to go out on short term disability b/c i couldn't work (lucky for me i am a for cause employee, so my job was never in danger but still).
The hospital where i had my original surgery didn't want the reversal done there b/c they were afraid that i would sue my original surgeon. This is after my new doctor told them something was really wrong with my pouch.
well, i kept trying to drink protein shakes and get as much protein in me so my new doc could operate. Originally he wanted to do a revision but after the hell of the past six months i was like "if you are going back in there just reverse it.." He coulnd't guarantee if he did the revision i wouldn't have the same problems.
So saturday i am trying to drink some protein and my stomach/pouch felt like it exploded. I went in and seriously lest than 2 hours later i was in the surgery room. I stayed in the hospital until this past Friday (10/2). I have a infection b/c the feeding tube broke but other than that everything went great.
it has only been a couple of days but my friends all say I look better. I will keep you guys informed
ETA: I didn't tell you guys if anything was actually wrong with my pouch. It turns out that it was twisted 180 degrees. When i laid down and drank something like the contrast it would go through my pouch. However, when i sat or stood and try to drink or eat i couldn't get anything down. The pouch would twist on itself.

I posted on this back in May, and figured I'd give an update on my situation. I have ended up finding a world class surgeon Dr. Fielding who is affiliated with NYU in New York City. It's about a 3 hour trip for me to see him, but it has been worth it! He has been more helpful than anyone I have seen thus far.
My diagnosis is... Hyperinsulinemic Hypoglycemia with Pancreatic Nesidioblastosis. It took me almost 6 months to get a diagnosis, and I'm hopefully optomistic!
The solution for me so far is that I am going to be having a gastric band put on over my RYGB surgery. My original Dr. wanted to do a Stomaphyx, but several studies have found that this is only a very temporary fix and the patients end up going back for the band. I have surgery for my band scheduled for Nov 9th 2009, and I'm hoping that resolves it. In most patients it does. If not, then I'll be sent to the Mayo Clinic for a Distal pancreatectomy.
The most helpful article that I found and shared with my nutritionists and bariatrition is... Severe recurrent hypoglycemia after gastric bypass surgery. Obesity Surgery, 2008;18(8):981-8). Written by K. Z'graggen, Berner Viszeralchirurgie and Schweizerisches Pankreaszentrum Klinik Beau-Site Bern, Bern, Switzerland.
I hope this helps to spare someone from the HELL that I went through (and still am somewhat until Nov)
One thing that I have found that has helped a small amount to reduce the "attacks" are ReliOn Glucose Tablets that they sell at WalMart. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7983616 Ask your doctor! They are over the counter, and may be helpful!! They have helped me bring my sugars up quick when they drop down real bad, they've prevented me from passing out a lot more! until I get to surgery!

I had my RNY 7/23/07. I did not get my feeding tube until recently. Do not take no for an answer. I have been told twice that I do not need reversal surgery. I have an appointment with my third doctor this Thursday. Living with a feeding tube is not the answer for me. I do not agree with the comment about it not helping. I get sick to my stomach sometimes when I just think about certain foods. I think that is because after two years, I know when my stomach will not be able to handle certain things. That doesn't mean that reversing the surgery wouldn't fix that problem.... JUST DON'T GIVE UP.
