Topic: RE: Abdominal Pain spreading to my back?
When I was two years out I had the same symptoms.  I thought it was a backache so I started taking aspirin.  Huge mistake.  It was an ulcer and the aspirin was making it worse.  I stopped taking the aspirin and ate an "ulcer diet" and it healed on its own.  I never take NSAIDs anymore.

I hope your problem is as easily cured!  Good luck.

which meds? are they time released or packed in oil?

if you want to test the break down of the "vehicle", you can put capsules in your mouth directly, roll them around til they get soft, and send 'em on down.

I'm not brave enough to test tablets this way, so I rinsed my (clean) mouth in water 4-5 times, like 1 oz? So, I had thoroughly saliva soaked water and put my tablet in there.

Now, for example, if you are taking Rx vit D, the "shell" will break down immediately, BUT it's D2, IN OIL. We only absorb D3, deliver in dry form, so capsule with powder.

I take Welbutritin, but rather than XL or SR, whatever it is, I take 100mg 3 times.

I am having some problems absorping some of my meds after being almost 5 yrs out. I heard somewhere a long time ago that there was a way to test meds in water to see if they were soluable. If ANYONE knows anything about this please let me know ASAP. I'm really in trouble here. Thanks!

Hi Karen,
It is so odd that many of us are having the same symptons.  I am currently seeing an gastroenterologist and an oncologist for the pain I have been experiencing in the last 6 monts.  I have reflux, pain in my chest and back, bloating, gas, enemic and some nausea.  I had a cat scan of my stomach, and am scheduled for and edoscopy.  I am also hungry all the time.  Let's keep each other posted.

It could be anything and it is very important to find A. A bariatric surgeon to follow up with you and B. a gastronologist.

What you explained sound like what I am experiencing.  I just had my third EDG done today and they found my orginal ulcer to be larger and bleeding and another ulcer that is penetrating deep into my intestnal wall.  My gastro Dr is having me go back to my surgeon because he can not do anymore for me.  I can not eat or frink without sharp pains radiating into my back.  My pain is located mid adomen above my belly button.

My ulcer, from my Gastro Dr is most likely surgically related.  The only other cause would be taking NSAIDs (advil motrin) which I have not touched since prior to surgery.  You need to stop the motrin and take tylenol until you can be seen.  It can worsen your condition.

Again, the this problem you are having can be a number of things and the best thing you can do is to find another Bariatric surgeon.
