Topic: RE: Exploratory surgery for stomach pain....

I agree... It sounds like it could be a hernia... Especially if they already saw one.  I had a hernia, and they couldn't see it until explatory surgery.  I had my surgery reversed do to other complications.  The surgeon that did my reversal has done more than anyone in the area.  He said the main reason for doing reversals is unexplained abdominal pain.  I tell you this, not to say you are going to have to have it reversed... That is RARE.... I tell you this to let you know that you have nothing to be embarassed about if they find nothing.  It is a real symptom, sometimes it just can't be explained.  MOST of the time, they see something during explatory surgery.  It could be scar tissue or adhesions from previous surgeries... that is always a risk with surgery.

Topic: RE: Lap Band - Constant Indegistestion/IBS Symptoms
The surgeon *****moved my band used to do only lapbands. He was from Argentina and I believe one of the "pioneers" of the surgery. When he took the band out, he said to me, "If you regain after you heal up, maybe someday you'll be OK to have the Sleeve."  THAT told me that even HE thought the band was complete crap!

Topic: RE: Possible Internal hernia?
Jan, I already had an internal hernia and it does sound like that is what it is.  Mine came on after 15 months post op.  I had outpatient surgery and was good for awhile.

Although my pain at that time was so bad that I went straight to the ER, I am again having this same pain again.

It isn't everyday, but when it comes on, the pain is in my back, I hyperventilate, feel like I am having a heart attack, it's gone after 5 minutes but I actually have to get on all fours....it's like I'm popping something back where it needs to be inside.  I know what you are talking about, you can't do anything at all and it is very very scary.  I need to go back and have them check, but the finances have kept me from it.  I've had this off and on for the past year.  Anyway, keep us updated, because I am concerned I have another internal hernia.  Thanks

Topic: RE: Pain...Plz Help!!!
Holly,
I had the same thing and it ended up being a internal hernia, same day surgery corrected it.  I can't say that is it, but please don't put it off.  You don't want to risk anything, and I was able to go home the same day.  Beth

I can't make a diagnosis, but I see a lot of partial small bowel obstructions.

But the notes/diary are critical to getting is dx rather quickly. So, as you go along, just keep notes answering those questions.

*I* can't do anything with that info, but the docs can knit it all together.

Topic: RE: Burning in stomach
Started out in the lower right of my abdomen then moved to middle below ribcage and lower middle.

I did go to the doctor and he determined that it was a virus with acid problems, thank goodness.  Still haven't thrown up but still have some pain.  Wondering if I should go to work tomorrow.

Topic: Burning in stomach
I am 1 yr 1 month post op lap rny.  I have never had any complications.  I started the day with a nagging burning in the lower right side of my abdomen.  I haven't been able to have a good bm lately but that's not unusual for me - I have ibs on top of it all.  I will be seeing my wl surgeon for my one year appt next Thursday (3/25).  I'd rather not go before then.  Hoping it goes away.  It's not extremely painful but is scary when I start thinking of all the things it could be.  Any suggestions?

Topic: Ulcer Pain
I ahve an ulcer on my site. I am on full liquids for next 5 weeks and multiple meds. I am having terrible time with nausea/vomting and weakness. I saw the surgeon who does not want to do surgery until a last resort. I agree as it would involve a major revision of the site loss of additional intestine aand smaller stomach.

Any one else had this problem? How did you cope? I am so cranky and have now lost 250 pounds. The doc keeps telling me not to loose anymore and I am not trying too but have been because of the nausea. I am just miserable and depressed.

Thank you

Topic: intestine problems after rny
About two years after my rny surgery, I get a tummy tuck and everything is going ok, I had that in octorber. In I think was feb of the next year which I think was 2007; I had a hernia up high right below my rib cage but when I went in I had a cold, a couple of days after I left to up to two weeks I went back to the hospital to the er and had to stay for eleven days because I had twelve inches of small intestine that tangled up on themselves and died, you talking about pain, so that twelve inches that tangled up lost its blood supplied and had to be removed, but now I am doing great now weather that was caused from the rny surgery I don't know but I don't blame the doctors. I feel the doctors told us all the risks so what ever happened due to this surgery thats the risk we took for being healthy and thin and I'm glad I did it.
