I am not sure what 3-6 month recovery actually means. I am disabled, so I don't have to worry about work at the moment. I have always wanted the panniculectomy for years, but naturally insurance companies would never cover it. They had to cover it this time due to the belly pulling on the hernia, thus making it medically necessary. (I think, but am not sure)  It's fun going through last years clothes and finaly seeing them fit!  When I got home from the hospital, I put on a pink silk teddie I have had for years that never really fit (due to the belly) and it slipped right over me, no problem.  The best part of it was seeing the look on my fiancee of 10 years face as I wore it.  We have been together for over 10 years, and he has NEVER looked at me that way!  

I still have big thighs and a big butt, but at least that's in style now-a-days.

If you were treated for HPylori preop and you got an ulcer so soon postop, I tend to think that your treatment for the HPylori didnt' work.  It doesnt' always work the first time which is why you need to go for a breath test to make sure it is gone but no all doctors do this.  If it is not gone, you can get severe ulcers that are difficult to treat, like yours and treatments without double antibiotics will not help.  Please ask them to test test you for HPylori again.  You also need to be on a PPI not pepcid.  Pepcid isn't strong enough, it doesn't block the acid, it just lowers the level.  I take Pepcid AC if I eat something acidic to take away the burning fast in adition to my Protonix.

I was treated for h. pylori prior to surgery and have been on pepcid since the surgery along with carafate at first then when the ulcer was not healing they put me on cytotec 4xdaily. they are going to re scope me this thursday because my abdonimal pain is getting worse and I can't eat any thing by mouth. Food was actually caught in my throat the last time I tried swollowing.

Hi! Mine turned out not to be a hernia. My surgeon checked it out and said it was some fluid retention and not to worry. Thank goodness! It didn't hurt but I was worried.

Sorry to hear about yours though... Who would've thought in the belly button? Did you have to have surgery?

 I had the same symptoms.  I would get very bad pains in the abdomen and sometimes it would take up to 3 days of excruciating pain before it would ease up.  I let it go.....bad mistake on my part....I ended up finding out that I had a bowel obstruction where my intestine would actually flip over and kink up.  Once it "un kinked".  The pain would subside....until the next time.  

I had surgery for other reasons which they fond this condition along with some adhesions and corrected it.  I can't say for sure that this is what you have but there is a higher likely hood of bowel obstructions, hernias and adhesions in wls patients.
