Topic: RE: Numbness and loss of movement in foot
HI.
thanks for the responses. After a visit to the MD and some testing, it turns out that I have peroneal palsy. Its also called drop foot. Because of the rapid weight loss, I lost muscle tissue that protects the nerves. By crossing my legs, I crushed the nerves behind my knee. Even though all my vitamin levels show very well, they attribute the problem to malnutrition. they added B6 300mgs per day and I am wearing a brace. Its 50/50 whether or not the nerves will repair themselves. I should know in a few months time. Apparrently, its not that uncommon with rapid weight loss and the neurologist knew right away the issue as he had seen it before!! Something new learned!!

Wondering if you have had sciatic pain. I had sciatic pain for over a year and didnt get surgery. The material that had leaked on the nerves have actually damaged the nerve endings in my foot. I have lost partial feeling in one foot. Its not so bad, just weird if I get a mosquito bite in the numb area. It is crazy to have an itch, then itch and feel numbness.
I have full foot strenth though.
All the best.

Topic: RE: Infection!
sounds like she is septic that means the infection is also in the blood stream and she may have also a nasty staph infection with cellulitis. I am no doctor but this could happen with any surgery. see if they can do blood cultures and also skin cultued too to make sure it is not flesh eating bateria which is the really really bad staph infection and comes on rapidly. Another possibility is that there may still be a sponge or other material left inside from surgery. I wish the best for your sister and she has a speedy recovery. If need be if the family does not think the original surgeon is trustworthy ask for different doctor until there is one the family trusts.
Topic: Infection!
My sister had stomach stapling done. One and a half days later she was rushed into surgery because of a leakage inside. After 15 days in hospital she was sent home with a caretaker. One day home and she's back in hospital em with a really foul smelling insision and very swollen abdomen. I was wondering if anyone had anything like this happen to them and they came through it ok?
Topic: Ondansetron (Zofran) Oral Disolving Film known as Zuplenz available soon
For those suffer with chronic nausea issues or intermittant there has been approved a new method of taking Zofran (Ondansetron) other than Oral Disolving Tablet (ODT), injection, or pill form. It will still be in the 4 mg or 8 mg strength.
Ondansetron (Zofran) Oral dissolving film has been approved by the FDA and should be in the pharmacies sometime in the next couple of months. Strativa and ParPharma is in the joint venture and has been awaiting the approval from the FDA on the effectiveness of the film administration compare to the forms available now. The FDA approved the request and no difference than from other methods of administration.
I see this as being a bit better than the ODT as there will not be any small granulas and a bit of chalky texture that can sometimes and in most cases does with the Ondansetron ODT (Oral Disolving Tablet).
Here is more information on Zuplenz:

Topic: RE: Intestinal Spasms! Help pls
I've had these phantom spasms since 2003. The only pattern I can see is that narcotics taken on an empty stomach are a guarantee. I prefer Vicodin if I must, but it's not help for the spasms, and can cause them. I take it with PB if there is a pain I must treat. They don't touch the squeezing sensation.
levsin does help some, taken during a spasm, I take 2 under the tongue, swallow 2. I can't breathe during spasms, so i have to act fast.
Dialy, I take magnesium citrate, which works better for leg/foot cramps, but B5 (pantothenic acid) is especially helpful with smooth gut spasms. I've given up trying to find a cause. Been scoped,, both ends. It has nothing to do with food or liquid.
But when I broke my arm, they hit 1 hr after taking any narcotics on empty. Stopped doing that, but unless it was FAT, like PB, I got them anyway. I couldn't even grab myself to rock and moan.
How long do they last? If I get them immediately, when I find myself just "rubbing my tummy" and slap the levsin on board, they last about 4 minutes. If I am asleep or "pretend" that it's not going to be one of those, it takes more like 10 minutes. That's a long time without a decent breath.

What are the actual numbers for B12, folate, B1, B6, for example?
There is such a thing as foot drop that is unrelated to WLS. My office manager left work one day with a floppy foot.
???
Turned out that sitting at a desk all day, crossing legs had pinched a nerve below the knee, which turned off her ankle/foot. It was very real and she had to do 3 months of PT!
