I have mesh?????

I have mesh in my stomach due from another surgery. My doctor said when I get the Open I will be more suceptable to infection in my incission and infection in the mesh.....has anyone ever had this or heard of this?

This happened to me. I had hernia repair 4 years ago and a gortex mesh was used. When they performed the open rny I was stapled. About 10 days later I had a major leak from the incision line and the dr had to open me back up right there in his office. Needless to say, he admitted me into the hospital. It actually took a while before he realized that the mesh had gotten infected. I just had more surgery on March 31 to have the mesh removed. I feel a whole lot better since then. It has been a long process.
