Is the band eroding, or my body?

My doctor said my band has slipped and eroded, and has to come out. I'm wondering whether he meant that the band is eroding, or is it my actual body? Also, he also said he doesn't recommend another band later because of scarring. Can anyone explain this to me? What's wrong with scarring? Is there anything I can do about it? I love my band and I don't want to go back to struggling without it. I should have asked more questions but I was so upset that my brain froze.

Lena...usually when the doc says there is erosion that means your stomach is eroding. The band is made of material that won't go bad but depending on when you got the band, the type you got and the technique used to put it in any of that could cause it to compress against your stomach and slowly cut into it. How did you doc come to that conclusion...did he do a test for it? It's my understanding they need to go in there and look but, every doc is different. It truly is best for you to call your doc again and asked all the questions you're asking here.

Which doctor? Your original banding surgeon or someone local? There have been many folks who, after letting the stomach heal, have had new bands (usually the VG model) installed again. Second opinions are wonderful things. Nancy
